nice! incredible graphics!
The horizontal curvature effect is unique and pretty interesting.
To me, the movement felt really sluggish cuz, it took a while to start moving or change directions, and the jump really locked you in place and made you wait.
also had some bugs where the camera took its sweet time to catch up to the character (maybe its frame rate dependent?)
I'm not sure I fully understand how to play this game, though I gave it quite a few tries. Since ladders are quite expensive, there aren't many bones to go around, and you don't jump high enough to gain any height without ladders, I kept softlocking myself and having to reload the page to try again. I couldn't see any advantage in setting my spawn point, since it would've meant I would have no bones left to build ladders. Is there maybe a mechanic I'm failing to discover?
@python-b5 Did you figure out how to catch ledges? Press space when you're near a ledge. You can do it in the air, too. You can't really navigate the game much without it. Also, jumping while you have some momentum gives you a lot more height and distance. Thank you for playing!
@jhandsy Thank you for the clarification! I somehow missed that when reading the controls.
@dhdorr Yeah! the camera being sluggish is a little bug that happens as a result of ledgegrabbing sometimes! We were trying to go for kind of an old-school prince of Persia feel, which is why it feels a little sluggish. We'll dial everything in as we update it! Thanks for the comment!
Incredibly pretty! I keep needing to refresh because of the ladder not spawning where I need it to be. I managed to get to this really long drop, but the camera took a while to catch up with the drop. For the most part, the blunders are a skill issue on me haha... Great game!
The game has a mesmerizing feel to it. I kept making the mistake of thinking 'R' was for respawn. As a future idea, the special controls list is short enough that a reminder could fade in near the top of the screen when you stand still for a couple seconds. Also by the time I started feeling lost the music came in with the higher volume version and added to the mystery of the level design. Great teamwork with the environments, animation, and mood!
@nbumgardner Thank you so much! Mysterious was exactly what we were going for.
I like the movement, it looks like I'm wearing vr glasses, like a fish-eye effect. Also, regarding the drawing, the location and the character look very cool. As for the sounds, everything is fine too. I like the conservation mechanics, it kind of reminded me of dark souls with its bonfires. Also the mechanics with the ladder are very cool.
Really nailed the atmosphere! Love the ambient sounds, and the subtle curving at the edge of the screen was a nice touch. Music was also a bop, although it didn't start until the very end for me. At first I wasn't feeling the controls, but I actually wound up appreciating how the limitations added to the sense of isolation. The spawn point/ladder system was a good addition, made me think about when was a good time to drop a save. I think I made it to the "shrine of two cats", although there wasn't any other indication that the game was over so I wasn't sure. All in all, a fun atmospheric game. Nice work!
Beautiful graphics and like the sound design! Really enjoyed this one. Great work!
The looks are supercool, but feels a bit slow. The curving of the lens is suuuuuper fun, like you're in a fever dream. The immersive tutorial is also a nice touch. One thing that bothers me is that if you misplace the ladder, that's it, you can't redo it.
Graphically this is really great, same for audio. I liked the curvature effect a lot. I agree with previous comments on the controls - ideally these would be a little bit snappier. I assume this is due to the fact that the character walks and then runs if you hold down the key. The slowness adds to the mood though, so it might be fine design-wise. Great entry, thanks!
As everyone said, the curving effect was really awesome. Loved the graphics and the audio. The movement has weight, which is pretty cool, but it also slowers the pacing, which I don't see as a bad thing, but it's interesting. The level design is very good and hooked me pretty quickly. Great job everyone!
The game's great visuals and sound design create a very eerie ambiance. I found the controls a bit too heavy, but it does contribute to the general mood of the game. Great entry!
the visuals are really great and the mood is awesome. But: the controls are too clonky. This is really hard to control the player. Sometimes the buttons just dont work. I guess when you fix that this game might be really great.
Very cool visuals and atmospheric soundscape. The experience was dragged down by the failstates, which seemed to consist mostly of soft-locking yourself by not having enough bones for a ladder. The movement felt pretty slow and the camera had a hard time keeping up with me sometimes. I very much liked the graphics.
Very nice game! I liked a lot of the level design and mechanics, I just wish failing didn't result in a soft lock every time.
I enjoyed the movement, but I wish ledge grabbing was a little more refined.
The graphics are fantastic! Very atmospheric experience. I enjoyed it a lot.
