Overall a pretty simple but fun game.
Loved the overall pacing. Seeing my character slowly getting stronger as the game went on was satisfying. The sound design was also very good! Some polish could be used on the graphics but considering the timeframe its pretty reasonable.
Good job!

Cool little game! Loved how deliberate each interaction was, as well as the home made music. Super cool that you made it in Rust as well

Fun game! I liked the incremental weapon upgrades. Quite difficult! It took me a while to figure out that the spawning ninja stars didn't damage me (maybe you could have done something to make this clearer). Would have been nice to have some animations too. The music/sfx were pretty good. Nice work making this so quickly!
@rob6566 Thanks ^^ Yeah my drawing skills are quite limited. I was hoping that the initial 'tentacle emerging from a portal next to you' attack would be similar enough to the 'tentacles emerging from a portal near you' to indicate that it was 'on your side', but definitely my art skills letting that idea down :)

@themotleybrit Oh yeah, I see the connection with the tentacles. I also take "Programmer art is encouraged" to heart in my games

Nice little game. Enemis spawning in circles are slightly tricky, but I figured out my way through them and finished the game in the end. Love seeing Rust, I would never have enough courage to make a videogame in it, but it's fascinating language. :)
@dzepi Thanks :) I should probably do a writeup of using Rust and my very early days engine for it, but I was impressed by how fast I felt like I could move. Definitely recommend checking out Bevy for something much more developed and usable. The ECS design definitely lends itself to rapid development when you start thinking in it's terms.
There's something about the language that makes it easy for the code I wrote to 'just work' first time, and with the way my engine is setup the game code is stored in a wasm plugin so it both compiled fast and could even be hot reloaded, which made development and experimenting quite fast too.
Was held up more by things I haven't implemented yet in my young little engine project much more than by the language or game code (having to implement a quick-and-dirty animation system, not having a proper UI system yet etc).
Really good game, at first I thought the tentacles were harmful to the player, but when saw them hitting an enemy it was clear the player were summoning them, the circular pattern took me by surprise! Good job, fun game
Really fun actually. The escalation in abilities feels great and addictive. Main issue is that the attacks can do essentially infinite damage since they don't get "spent" on collision. Made things a bit too easy. I wish the graphics were a bit more colorful like VS too.

I didn't really understand that you were passively getting stronger at first - would be nice to have some UI elements to indicate what was going on! I thought the other spawned elements were hurting me at first. Had a fun time though

Had a lot of fun with this entry! The progression was not bad and it was cool seeing my character get stronger over time. Pretty short and sweet, but fun; I liked trying to lure the enemies into the spawning explosions (which I thought harmed me at first, but trial and error disproved that), to do as much damage as I could. Art is simple yet effective, nice job on this!
Also, it's cool that you used Rust to make this game, I'm in the process of learning the language and want to try making stuff in it soon. Definitely going to check out Bevy sometime soon, but it's really neat that you built your own framework for this game. Really great stuff!

I don't usually enjoy vampire survivors and the like but i had fun playing this. Good game and nice art.
Really well done game that felt smooth to play. The starting "weapon" felt a bit slow but I suppose that's just part of the genre. Love the audio and the progression. A little more time on art would make this really feel polished. Thanks for sharing
