Like the style and vibe of the game, but the gameplay can be a bit frustrating. Snapping movement to a grid positions in a realtime precision game doesn't feel right for me :\
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD54 → fell the tower!!!

Everything about this game is so stylish! I also love the reversal of the jumping mechanic after getting the spring. It's so hard though, I can't get past the first level up after getting the spring (with the big swirling wave). Is there a trick to it?
@orangeoceans hello! thank you! thanks! thanks so much!
as for that level... i made it too hard. but there are a couple of tricks- - the top 2 rows are free. so you can run up there or jump up there with a single jump and then jump again so you can worry a little less. - the last jump is also free. if you have a choice between running at a bullet and jumping onto a bullet choose jump! itll push you onto the next floor. - this one is a little weird- the little gaps in the waves are determined by just vertical stripes scrolling across the screen, not wonky lines from where the waves actually come from. so you can move vertically and not worry too much.
i have done it! it is possible! just not very fun.
oh! oh! another tip! if you play the web build you can move a bit faster by mashing any directional wasd key and the corresponding arrow key. could be actually useful! i just put in arrow key support and didnt really check it.
I actually really liked it! I just got so stuck on level 3 that I was unable to keep going which I was bummed about because I think you hit the mark on everything else. Design language was good and clean, the mechanics were interesting and easy to understand the graphics and audio were clean and simple and looked and sounded great.
Cool idea! Was fun to play.
I skipped the intro and died on 2nd level so many times! I was already prepared to criticize the game, but I thought: "I skipped the intro"! Them, I played the intro and learned to JUMP! OH MY GOD! Yes, your game is SO HARD but it's SO COOL! Good job!
Amazingly fun and simple game, the going down and back up was a nice twist. Some levels were certainly harder than others but once you had a good rythm going it was pretty doable. Liked the credits screen too :)
Pretty fun idea! Gives of a "world's hardest game" vibe from way back, though I guess it could use some tuning to make it feel a little more comfy to play. The weird cooldown after landing from a jump made a few of the levels really difficult to play.
Interesting concept, I found the visuals too hard to read to time my jumps and avoid obstacles, and the timing windows were extremely tight, but the quick restarts and short levels kept me playing until the second level after the spring (revisiting the rolling line obstacles) before I got frustrated and gave up. But I should note, this isn't usually my style of game, and if I were more into something like precision platformers I'd have stuck it out longer.
Awesome game! I liked the artstyle and it gives off vibes of those hard but satisfying games such as "Jump king". The only actually frustrating thing is that you don't actually understand where you will land after jumping and the fact that if you land on the edge of a map, a cell has to be clear and a cell near it, because you getting pushed back which seems like you landed on a clear cell but still die. Overall, awesome game. Good work!
Pretty cool game! I liked the visuals, but I found controlling the game to be frustrating. I think the game would have benefitted a lot from invincibility before you make your first move or something to that effect.
@maxededo actually you do have invincibility at the start of each level! its just communicated very poorly by a nearly invisible white circle around the player. if you press a button then it goes away.
dont feel like you have to give it another go though. there are a lot of better and more experimental games for ludum dare 54 and i played a pretty good one about an elevator.
Ok wait a minute, I came back to this one because you told me I didn't need to and I beat it, and while it definitely took some getting used to I think you've got a really solid project here! I'd say my first comment was a skill issue moment for me, because once I got into it I found it to be very fun. The idea of running out of space to move up a level was very cool!
I couldn't get past the level after you discover the twist, but this is a cool idea! Wish I could have made it further to see what's at the end!
Really cool! The concept was really interesting, as other people have said it's *really* hard, but the mechanics and level designs and everything are great (Also I managed to beat it and I am very proud of myself)
Visually great, it is quite hard.
The bullets can snipe you kinda out of the blue.
I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do after collecting the spring (maybe I should learn to read)
Good job though, feels like a proper game.
