I'm not sure what to do in this game. I was able to get the web player to work, by opening it in a new tab [here](https://files.jam.host/embed/$377540/22656/index.html). But it seems I am not able to pick up anything?

The walking animation and the art looks nice though! I'm looking forward to playing a patched version! 😄

Nice art :D

I'm going out to the corridor with many doors but then I stuck. And I was intrigued by change of music speed!

ditam 2023-10-04 13:59

Hm, I also seem to have gotten stuck, but I got much further than the previous commenter. I could walk around and interact with object fine (even solved a very out-of-the-blue chess puzzle!), but once I get to the hallways with the doors, I seem to be stuck in a loop - either switching between the two hallways with the "9351" or the "427" doors, or just reappearing in the same one I was just in.

Something tells me that's a puzzle to figure out, but I couldn't get anywhere with it. I'll probably try this again a bit later. It's a very intriguing game!

Always a pleasure to see narrative-first adventure games during the Ludum Dare. Really liked what you were going for here, the atmosphere was fantastic and I enjoyed how subtle the increase of the eerie elements was. Disappearing knives, repeated dead bodies. It felt very Lynchian and Eternal Darkness-adjacent in a way only a video game (and maybe even only a short-turnover game jam game) can, letting the player second guess if something was a bug or a creative decision to instill discomfort in the player. The slight changes in music really helped with the vibe as well!

As a point of feedback, I think your art assets could've used some consistency in style and better integration into your development pipeline, as I noticed some issues with inconsistent quality settings and resolutions that seems to be an issue with a disconnect in communication with your level designers and artists. It might be worth on-boarding your artists into your dev pipeline to have them handle importing assets themselves! Also I think I softlocked myself in the room with the bookshelf, as all the interactive elements ceased to work so unfortunately I didn't get to see the ending!

That aside, I think there's a lot of invisible effort that goes into making something like an adventure game from scratch in a 3 day game jam, so you should all be very proud of what you've made here

I didn't understand nothing and art are poor. But not bad try!

m0rph1y 2023-10-04 14:13

@caladrius Thank you for ur review, sorry for level-art but on room with bookshelf u need to click E on bookshelf 3 times, we glad that u're enjoyed to play our game.

hellhound 2023-10-04 14:15

Thank you guys for your reviews! There is a small hint on the first level which will help you with the corridor puzzle!

caladrius 2023-10-04 14:18

That's an odd one @m0rph1y, I absolutely mashed E on the bookshelf and couldn't get anything to happen - is there a rhythm to it?

xuefeng 2023-10-04 14:21

浅玩了几下,感觉很有绣湖的感觉!但不能直接点击交互一定要按E稍微有点难受HH,我太笨了,有点卡关XD

hellhound 2023-10-04 14:31

@caladrius Try clicking with your LMB on this bookshelf a few times

bitezzz 2023-10-04 14:54

I definitely see what you were going for here. Very intriguing game and I loved the escalation. Unfortunately at some point a cutscene started playing and the game seemed to be stuck. I am not sure if it's the ending or it's a bug, but nevertheless. The corridor puzzle was a bit hard to figure out, I may have missed a hint somewhere. That might be a nice place to figure out if a player got stuck and help them along the way. Overall, definitely amazing mood you set there with the changing environment and music.

Sound and atmosphere are well done, i liked your art style too, but the plot isn't clear

loxcdox 2023-10-04 19:27

cool I love detectives I liked the game there are questions for game design and art, but in principle everything is cool thanks!

mathkarma 2023-10-05 07:32

Really good idea overall, unfortunately, i couldn't really find what to do everytime

Glad I came back for the patched up version! Really enjoyed how each room changed into a more disturbing version of itself. Music helped set the vibe of the game, that's good. Great work with the cutscene illustrations and the UI designs. However, a bit bland when it comes to backgrounds, but I think all the objects makes up for that. Really enjoyed how the end played out. It made me more interested and wonder what could possibly have happened that lead to this case. The horror aspect I feel was also a strong point. Some of those object were quite eerie to say the least. Great job!

polina-fl 2023-10-07 16:02

Oh, my God, that's a very interesting twist :hushed: Also very atmospheric game itself and the drawing style is amazing

shanluki 2023-10-20 00:49

I couldn't get out of the first room. xD Maybe i was missing something. I like the graphics, the music was good but maybe the loops are a little too short.

jvdwijk 2023-10-20 20:51

Interesting game, but like others I also got stuck in the rooms with many doors... Before that though, I would recommend changing the rooms up a bit, as the first two rooms were very similar to each other and I thought they were the same at first (they even had the same paintings at the same places).

For the rest, I did like the music and art, nice entry!
