Great job. Simple and very fun to play. Neon lighting and hexagons in the background makes graphics stand out.

Nice game! My feedback: - Shrinking should start after you start moving. - Background is a little bit tiring to look at, I'm not exactly sure why, but maybe keeping it fixed instead of rotating could help. - Maybe some fixed number of laps for each level could mark the level as completed. It would be a nice thing to have alongside the score imo.

Pretty good! I didnt really understand the purpose of crossing the finish line because it seems like the level goes on forever. Nice entry though, the gameplay made sense quickly

metzkermeister 2023-10-04 12:07

@dod108 The first point is a good one, we simply didnt think of that. The background actually is fixed, but i assume you mean it should always have the same orientation. I wanted to have that, but couldnt get it to work and other things were more important. Though it might also make the game harder as you wouldnt be able notice curves as easily.

As for the finish line, @blue-pin-studio, at this point it mostly exists to mask the seam where the start and end of the track meet. We didnt find any good reason to include a reward for finished laps, but it still has to fulfill its main purpose. ^^'

I love the theme and graphics of the game. It controls quite well and is pleasant to play.

kerdelos 2023-10-07 14:08

Congrats on your entry :) The shrinking track was an interesting feature altough it did take a bit of time to notice it ^^

I'd advise tweaking a bit the camera because as it is I found it a bit dizzying. Maybe it's because it instantly rotates at full speed with the motorcycle, having some kind of inertia might to the trick.

I'd also suggest giving more information about what's ahead to the player. You could either zoom out the camera, not make it centered aroung the motorcycle (so there would be more screenspace to display what's ahead) or also having the general shape of the circuit and our position on it somewhere in the corner of the screen.

Fun game! I agree with above comments, it got a little hypnotic, but I enjoyed it!

metzkermeister 2023-10-07 18:31

Thanks for the feedback and kind words everyone. @kerdelos we do have a system for the camera to adjust depending on speed but we didnt have time to properly tune it, just like we didnt have time to set up a proper resolution. The inertia idea is cool, we might check that out.

Great entry. The concept was intuitive to understand straight away and it gets pretty addictive fast! Edging along cautiously as the track gets really thin is nerve-racking! sweet sound track too - synergises well.

arivaneverdingen 2023-10-08 04:15

controls were really clean and easy to master. Lap count could be fun. Sound effects fit really well. Great job! I had fun

mahalis 2023-10-08 16:36

This is fun! Some good variety among the levels. It’s interesting how as you get farther along in a level the mechanic shifts from a traditional racing game to more of a slow, cautious balancing act. Visuals are nice too—I’m always here for a TRON style (as you can see from my game this time around, ha). Well done.

spooncats 2023-10-10 05:09

Really clever use of the theme and love how simplistic yet addictive it is! The audio is super well done too, great stuff.

lachlan-james 2023-10-10 11:26

Lovely graphics and audio. As other have said, very hypnotic and fun to try to master.

I'd love it if the death/restart loop was way snappier - the lengthy wind-down and restart menu etc got in the way of getting into a flow with it.

I'm not 100% on the music restarting either - though I understand it could be an incentive for the player to try and stay in the game to hear more of the track.

le-don 2023-10-14 19:42

This is a great game! It's easy and simpel and also fun without trying to be too complicated. Maybe more feedback when the player falls of the track like a collision sound or explosion might be nice, as at some point I wasn't sure if I fell off the track and it just Game Over'ed me.

digitaldude555 2023-10-15 15:43

Simple concept done well, fits the theme nicely. Like the sounds and graphics are okay but yeah the background can be fixed. I think adding effects when you pass the finish line would be nice, like some sound or grahic effects.

fiordarancio 2023-10-18 13:20

I like this game a lot because it delivers fun through a simple concept. The audio recalls iconic race game music quite well.

The background grid just got me headaches xD I would also suggest to make the endgame faster, without waiting for the motorcycle to stop. A "restart level" shortcut would be nice too. Lovely entry overall!
