The app crashes when I try to launch the game I'm unable to even reach the title screen any idea why ?

adis 2023-01-09 08:11

@jackroxton, hello, oh, I didn't know this. On my machine I am waiting around 2-3 seconds until white screen will dissapear, do you hear any music?

adis 2023-01-09 08:30

@jackroxton, I have ran it on two Win10 x64 machines. It has long loading time upon launch, but it is playable at least for me. What is your platform?

jackroxton 2023-01-09 09:13

I tried on windows 11 and the game crashed as soon as it appeared in the taskbar no window no sound and lauching it in compatibility mode does not help If that's not a windows 11 issue maybe I lack a library or something ?

sam-cousins 2023-01-09 09:19

I like the evil aesthetic

adis 2023-01-09 09:51

@jackroxton, I will try fix it, but I need more feedback from other users, maybe it's really Win11 problem or just some bug in Godot.

I really appreciate you for pointing that out.

adis 2023-01-09 09:52

@sam-cousins, hehe, thank you :)

Was it hard for you? Did you understand what to do? I think, I messed up the balance, but I really want that every player will reach the end.

jk5000 2023-01-09 11:50

I really liked the games atmosphere and visuals. The gameplay is not super clear and I have little idea what I was suppose to do. It is difficult to see when you dies, or the game just randomly restarts. Overall a okay little jam game.

adis 2023-01-09 11:56

@jk5000, thank you, I had to really narrow down the gameplay to finish the game, but you're right, I will definitely work on the gameplay and visual clues in the future games.

jyogeet 2023-01-09 14:05

the atmosphere is great

adis 2023-01-09 15:37

@jyogeet, hehe, thank you very much :D

xdefault 2023-01-10 00:48

Great job on the game.

I really like the looks on the game and the atmosphere is great, there is some good potential, especially the story.

The ideia of harvesting meat is good and straightforward, but the mechanic of interacting with the meat is a little confusing, it lacks a little of feedback to when you can harvest the meat, i got almost no ideia what exactly to do in the firsts minutes, and that was probably due to the lack of feedback.

pojo79 2023-01-10 03:39

Graphics were really nice. I kept getting hit from something and I'm not really sure what and then it seemed to reset the progress. Is it just the one room?

adis 2023-01-10 10:06

@xdefault, hello, thank you for taking your time to leave the feedback and play the game. It really matters for me.

Yeah, you're so right about the visual clues, I really have underdeveloped this part. I will pay more attention to this aspect in the future games.

adis 2023-01-10 10:09

@pojo79, hey, thanks for playing. I didn't specified it in the note, but the meat is actually exploding if you're too late to harvest it :p

Yeah, it is just one room \('-')/

rjerez192 2023-01-10 18:14

Good entry!

I like the art and the mood. I was confused at first exactly on how to interact with the meat mechanic but after some minutes you can figure it out. I think a little bit of extra feedback on what is going on would be good.

adis 2023-01-11 07:50

@rjerez192, hello, thank you so much :)

Yeah, I agree with the point about the feedback, got it!

kr4ft3r 2023-01-11 23:21

Sorry but the game is too obscenely punishing to be enjoyable, despite all my good will and curiosity. Even though I figured the system out after few deaths (it's hard to tell at first that those things grow at different rates, the differences are too small, so at first it seems just loaded with glitches), I couldn't go past the second stage, and giving 20 minutes of my time to just begin scratching the surface of the game only to get taken back to stage one every time is too much so I had to give up. I may sound annoyed but that's only because I liked the premise but am unable to explore it. If the game is to be an artsy kind of experience, the worst thing you can do to it is make it as punishing. Nice nine-inch-nails kind of setting though, and when rating I took into consideration that this is a solo 48-hour entry.

adis 2023-01-12 07:07

@kr4ft3r, hello, you're not sounding annoyed - you just gave the good feedback for me to improve.

I was really worried about the difficulty curve, but in the end, I've messed it up. Yeah, the gameplay is really lacking visual clues and sounds. However, please understand, I was adding the sounds and exporting the game in the last 30 minutes :/

Again, I am thankful for your detailed feedback and time :)

witchgf 2023-01-12 14:40

The whole concept is cool and eerie, but the gameplay is confusing. it's hard to tell, what;s killing you and why things go back to the start suddenly. I thought that it's a loop, but actually people seem to be out of it, so im the only one dying without realisation why.

adis 2023-01-13 08:33

@witchgf, hi, thank you for your comment. Well, I didn't have time to properly make the visual clues and the death animation/screen, but what is killing you is actully exploding meat :)

It will grow for some time, and after that you will have some time to harvest it before it will explode.

But, I totally agree with you.

kymakesgames 2023-01-14 01:49

I don't usually get too creeped out by games, but this one got to me. Strikingly unsettling in my opinion. I had a lot of difficulty getting past round 2, so I didn't get to see too much of the game, but I played it six or seven times. You achieved quite the mood with this game.

hoichael 2023-01-14 02:32

I have mixed feelings on this, but overall I definitely enjoyed it.

First things first, the presentation is great. The visuals and the writing (as well as the audio, to some degree) really create an atmosphere that's rare for a jam game.

I also really like the ending - it's simple, but fairly intense as it harnesses the atmosphere that has been built up.

It took me a while (a couple of minutes / retries) to figure out "what's going on" and how the mechanics work/correlate. Fundamentally, I think that's completely fine, I like "abstract puzzle games". But there is a difference between cryptic communication and no communication at all, and I really feel like some kind of feedback that ties the pieces of meat reaching a certain size and the player taking damage would have been really really important. Or, alternatively, the note on the wall could just spell it out - which would be the boring solution but probably still preferable to how it works now.

When I actually understood how the mechanics work, the gameplay loop of keeping an overview of the asymmetrically growing pieces of meat / trying to figure out the correct "sequence" of harvesting them and then quickly executing that sequence was actually really fun.

The difficulty level also felt good to me, but maybe that's just because I'm an FPS player so I'm used to precise/fast first person mouse and keyboard input.

The cycle of eerie downtime (reading the new note) and intense pressure (not dying to the meat) also accentuates the intimidating atmosphere. Great stuff.

Overall, really cool and unique entry - but a little rough around the edges

kikiriki367 2023-01-14 03:22

That was pretty hard but i managed to finish it, because im such a pro gamer!! Judging by the comments im guessing you heard these by now, so ill try and throw in a few easy solutions. And most of these id say is fine to do and count it as a jam addition(only the 6th one is a bit iffy) :D.

1. Add a simple text at bottom right with "X hp", that would help players a lot! 2. Make the timer on fruit explosion 1 second longer, again its just an int change its fine and a lot more people will finish the game that way :)) 3. Lower the volume of getting hurt, since otherwise to be able to play the game we have to lower the volume a lot. Which makes us miss out on the music... 4. Put the rules of the game in your LD description, people usually try the game and if they get lost start reading the descriptions. So its a great way to explain some important mechanics that you didnt do really well in the game!(Check my description page lol its full of random hints that i wrote after getting a few comments) :)) 5. A progression track on top so that we know which "day/level" we are on, and out of how many... Our peak motivation is at the beginning and when were close to the end so we super tryhard! Also helps knowing when the player died. 6. When the fruits are able to be picked up, change their Color its an easy and fast way to help us destinguish them without spamming E. (atleast easy in unity and gamemaker.. i never used godo, but i heard its good so i maybe will some day!)

Im saying these because in the past i had the same problems, and i still do! :)))) And also because i like the game and the atmosphere a lot and i hope more people get to experience it. And these are just minor tweaks that dont change anything that you did so i feel they are okay to do! :)) And of course these are just suggestions, and do as you feel like!

In any case i wish you the best of luck! And great addition that just required a tiny bit of playtesting! :D

adis 2023-01-15 18:10

hey, @kymakesgames! I am so glad that my game amazed you in such a way, thank you, really, for your playtime :D

adis 2023-01-15 18:14

@hoichael, oh, mate, I am really thankful for your detailed feedback, I just can't describe how qualified is the comment you've wrote. I cannot add nothing more, I'll definitely polish the problems you stated in the future games. Your time will not be wasted away, even right now I am doing 3D modelling, math, and other things for game development.

Thank you!

adis 2023-01-15 18:20

@kikiriki367, oh my... Such a wonderful solutions you have provided, I am sure you're right about the balance, visual clues, instructions, and etc. But what about editing the game? I think, that only progress that I have done in 48 hours should be displayed to players because then I can see the mistakes that was present in my past games and improve in the future. But maybe I am just damn lazy to fix something I've already finished :l

Anyways, I am glad you have finished the game and left me the things that I can improve. I am really thankful for that!

kikiriki367 2023-01-15 21:01

Yeah the tweaks after finishing something arent really fun to do and i know it :)) But still i just wanted to mention these 5 minute tweaks (since its just changing a variable here and there) because i see a game i would and did make.. My first entry for LD was a cool little game which i fear most people didnt finish just because of difficulty. And it was a one integer change to fix it all :))

So great game and im glad i finished it! And i love that its a creepy one, you did good in making the atmosphere. Looking forward for your next LD entry!

local-minimum 2023-01-23 18:17

I think I died a couple of times, the game did at least restart but I wasn't able to interact with the growing red meaty things and all of the sudden something said 0 percent at the top. I did manage to read the note on the wall though and I liked the feeling the game was giving off but I never got anywhere.

edgeboyo 2023-01-25 02:48

Got a good sweat on trying to finish it, but managed (on third try). A very neat and challenging entry. Would appreciate a small indicator of when the chunks can be harvested, but of course not much time during a jam. Very nice entry
