Upload again! I want to play and rate it!

bukkaketears 2022-10-03 13:58

Please upload an online version too, e.g. on itch.io. I see that you tried, but on the ludum dare site it still has its problems.

Sorry guys, finally got a working web build up!

coderaurus 2022-10-04 06:37

@ezekyuhl Where are you hiding the web build? :D I see the google drive link named HTML5 is basically just the source code.

ezekyuhl 2022-10-04 06:43

@coderaurus You should be able to play it just on the page? I also got it up on itch.io: https://ezekyuhl.itch.io/whack-a-troll-ld51

coderaurus 2022-10-04 07:08

@ezekyuhl Ah, I was blind. There it is, on this very same page!

I like the character sprites and the concept of the game. The music is too loud for my taste, especially when you have no way to adjust it.

I see the game is lacking some features you have mentioned yourself, so I won't focus on them. I'm not sure how the enemies work, but if they have health it would be great to see how much they have. Now it felt like the whole game loop starts over: the enemy is pushed backed and the music starts over (which it shouldn't).

Nice job, I find the game a good project to work on and hope you do so.

@coderaurus thank you for the great feedback! I may continue trying to finish it for the "Extra" or just finish it on itch.io. The enemies don't have health, as it is you hit with the right attack or it just restarts the game. I would have liked to at least got indicators of that set up and some buttons, but alas~

@themorfeus @bukkaketears

I have fixed the player~

Hey! At least you gave it a try!

Pros:

- I like the Final Fantasy - vibe graphics you went for - Characters are actually quite cool! - The spam of abilities is kinda hilarious - Enemies variety

Cons:

- Well, hard to say what exactly am I supposed to do apart from spamming abilities like a madman - as @coderaurus mentioned, the loop is only noticeable because of the fact that music changes - Is there actually a loose/win condition?

I'm glad you tried and finished your first entry. It can only go up from there. Welcome to the Ludum Dare and keep up the good work! :)

Thanks for the upload! I know it wasn't finished, but I think the core of what you were going for is a good idea, and I hope you work on it some more. I enjoyed trying to get the right ability pressed just on site of the monsters. The sprites were great as well, especially for this kind of game. Excited to see what you put out in the future!

Hey there! Definitely clear that it's your first jam, so I really appreciate the effort into the concept and in trying to hit all of the production values in the 48h (graphics, sounds, etc). Of course, It's really hard to get that all in, and I know you'll see improvements with later jam entries as long as you continue to learn and practice. Why not try and develop this a little further outside the jam to see if the concept would have come together? I think you'll enjoy developing the boss health, the classes / damage types and bosses.

Keep at it!

Really like the character sprites

Cute game, but not a lot of gameplay going on. Looking forward to your next one!
