Simple yet fun to play. Good work!
Score 137!
Your game has an interesting idea. The rotation of the platform and the idea is really nice! The level generation is cool, too. There are some minor physics issues, such as the ball not following the platform when the platform is flat and moving left/right. The rotation controls are also very sensitive, and should have used keys/buttons that the right hand could have used for more accurate plays. Other than this, the game is very charming and cool!
very well executed idea had fun playing it, I felt power when I dodged too many obstacles at once
I wish I could restart without two clicks after I lose it would be better if i just have to press space
but after all, very good game my best score so far is 200
There's a lot of extra challenge to this with the fact that the object can roll off your platform. It's quite difficult as it goes on, but the music is rather relaxing with the rain sounds. :D
I am saddened by the lack of a giant KABOOM when you lose.
Nice game! The art was lovely. The physics were slightly wonky, but it was still fun :)
It's pretty hard but cool idea, I actually started with something a bit like this for this jam
Writing notes as I'm Playing:
1- Tutorial text is very small, lots of waste screen space. Some graphics would help.
2- Started the game. I think an in-game tutorial would have been more intuitive.
3- For the most part, bad sound is better than no sound. Even using sfxr to generate some beeps is worthwhile.
4- Challenge is brutal and mistakes are unforgiving, game over screen is abrupt and has same issues as tutorial.
5- I have almost no idea what the collectables are doing. I started off grabbing everything, but I think I was suppose to grab blues and avoid reds? Some instruction or audio/video feedback would be helpful
6- I got pretty far using only up/down. I only needed to tilt after my ball got pushed back a bit, and only had to move left/right to correct for that. A more subtle tilt and auto-return to flat would make controls a bit more intuitive.
7- I got a bit better at correcting my mistakes but the difficulty curve still seems a bit high, especially for a jam game. My ball rolled off the edge of the screen and there was nothing I could do.
Was this for Jam or Compo? If Jam, you still have four or so hours, I'd make some minor control tweaks and add a few sound effects.
EDIT: Sound issue was on my end with bluetooth, I tried again. Music is good, I think you still could use sound with the item pickups.
@shaolin-dave thank you for your extensive feedback! I wasnt aware that the fixed resolution of itch.io wouldnt always work, when i checked it on an higher resolution laptop, i had the same thoughts. The game definitly could use some tweaks in difficulty, handling, and tutorial, but i needed to have a stable running version at that time :)
Good one! I was definitely having some fun finding the optimal strategy and ended up with something like this:
1. Do not rotate! 2. Fly above the level 3. Collect blue dots only when you really have to, picking the safe ones 4. PROFIT!
I wish there were more incentive to use rotation, but it was a fun and pleasant experience anyway! Like the art style very much:thumbsup:
Very unstable concept :) the tilting was very sensitive so mostly I tried only going up and down to avoid rolling at all, and this kind of worked for a couple hundred points. Initially it was hard to read the blocks in space; the platform can pass through them, but not the payload, but also because they were only outlines I visually lost track of where they were and what I needed to avoid. But I tried it a few times and got farther and farther!
Neat little game! Simple concept but fun! I agree that the rotation is too sensitive. After a while the gravity made it difficult to pick up blue dots because the level was moving so fast. Topped out just over 500 points.
I find the controls quite difficult to handle. I really like the idea and the graphics. My best socre is 183 :)
Hey nice little game, I like the graphic and the music is cool too I feel like moving with WASD is fine but balancing would probably feel better with the other hand (like J and L key or something)
Cool idea! This fits the theme well, and you did a great job executing the concept. The amount of time I have to contemplate my failure as the container slowly plummets, knowing I can't move fast enough to catch it but making a futile effort anyway, is a bit discouraging. But after a few attempts I mostly got the hang of it!
Its interesting to see the nuclear theme mixed with such a relaxed atmosphere :) It seems that the radioactive fallout despite the players effort is already falling :0
I like the mood! It's surprisingly relaxing, considering you're juggling a bomb. The play control worked better than I expected it to. I wonder if making the platform tilt be bound to mouse movements might make it feel more "unstable."
