A fun toy to kill your time with.

3dflow 2021-04-28 09:16

Nice ! I've seen several games sharing this concept but I always like how addictive they are. At first I didn't understand the big rocks werent actual obstacles

nick-howard 2021-04-28 09:16

This was really fun! I really enjoyed the do a run, die, spend some points on upgrades aspect. I ended up doing a similar thing, as well, but this was super well put together. For my screen, however, the UI was super, super, super tiny, however. Still really nice! I could see this being a decent phone game with some more polish.

arthur-mairs 2021-04-28 09:21

This would make a really fun mobile game, something to just play and enjoy!

astalavistich 2021-04-28 09:23

Good game, but it has problem with music, so it was not very pleasant to hear that.

haardy 2021-04-28 09:23

Nice game! I enjoyed the fact that most upgrades made a great effect, that the player immediately can feel the difference. Although the turning speed could have been tuned a bit more. Would also be great if the player could see their gold amount during the mining phase, had me waiting for the game to end to see how much I actually earned.

The controls were hard to get in the hand at first, but after a few games I lived with it. In the past, I've been a fan of such digging games. A successful entry and of course a perfect match with the theme.

Drilling was pretty fun at the start of the game, but after some speed upgrades, the drill got almost impossible to control. Even with turning speed upgraded to the maximum, you couldn't evade the dynamite anymore and just had to hope that the path below was clear. Maybe a warning at the bottom of the screen could help?

doot 2021-04-28 09:32

Yay, I made it to the bottom! Fun and simple game with a nice play / upgrade flow.

As stated by others, the turning feels way too slow, even with upgrades. In the end I didn't even try to turn and just prayed there were no dynamite, since I couldn't avoid them anyway. Is the turning speed voluntarily this slow or is this a bug (maybe tied to framerate or something?)

I noticed some bugs with the boosts, but hey it's a jam game! Also, I would love it if there were no invisible walls on the side, maybe some looping trick to make it feel like an infinite playground?

Thanks for the game I had fun 💕

Old idea of digging down with a few twists. Would be nice to see how much money you have while digging

eugenik 2021-04-28 11:53

Amazing art!!!.

@marat @3dflow @mira @mariszin @eugenik Thank you all for the kind feedback! Glad you enjoyed it!

elbapotsnugg 2021-04-28 13:05

@nick-howard @arthur-mairs A mobile game is a really great idea. Maybe this is something we can do post-jam. Thank you for that feedback on the UI - it always ends up being a bit of a problem. Something for me to focus on for the next jam!

elbapotsnugg 2021-04-28 13:06

@astalavistich Sorry for the audio bugs. I think this is a bug with the WegGL player - I'll have to do some research on how to fix it as an update. Appreciate the feedback!

gramozilho 2021-04-28 13:10

After a few speed upgrades it is pretty hard to maneuver, otherwise good entry. Music was simple but not annoying, visuals are clear. Good entry!

elbapotsnugg 2021-04-28 13:15

@haardy @doot Thank you both for the feedback! The turning speed was a bit of a design problem we went back and forth on for a while - ultimately it got shipped due to the time. The speed and boosts (which we thought felt pretty cool) made the steering very difficult to work with. Some ideas we had included adding a radar (time casualty), or just a warning indicator. We elected to go with it as is and treat it more of like a reverse to games like toss the turtle.

Great suggestion on the looping trick! We toyed with the idea but ultimately cut it due to time with how it interacted with the camera. I agree this would be a much more satisfying bounding method - something we possibly should have gone with from the get-go

vanleiden 2021-04-28 13:18

This is fun! The digging mechanic is really satisfying. It would be nice if the camera zoomed out a bit, the faster your drill got. But good job, I like it a lot. :)

doot 2021-04-28 13:36

Thanks for the answer @elbapotsnugg!

Glad to hear you thought of this and this was only a question of priorisation. It is always hard to make pertinent feedback after a jam, you never know if all the missing stuff were cut because of time or because people didn't think about it!

Great job again on this

elbapotsnugg 2021-04-28 15:47

@vanleiden That is a fantastic idea! I'll have to play with that on a post-jam version. Thank you for the feedback!

andrewkennedy 2021-04-28 16:05

I enjoyed the beginning quite a bit. Once I started putting points into speed, it became very difficult to steer, even when I invested most of my money into turning. I realized steering was probably a pointless endeavor, so I started just aiming my drill at the beginning, shooting in a straight line, and hoping for the best.

I started hugging the left wall at the beginning to skip most of the dense rocks, then collect the expensive gems deeper down. My highest score was right at 1000.

Fun game, good work!
