Two games for one! Love the visuals and sounds, supreme aesthetics. Great work!
Super creative take on the theme! The level of polish in this is astounding, super impressive for a game made in 48 hours. Especially in the graphics, my favourite being the Asteroids game in that department, WOW. The idea of the main character aging each time you go to the arcade is a super cute touch too. Unfortunately I encountered a soft-lock in the Space Invaders game where you can't leave the game when the spaceships go under the screen. Still a super fun experience though, I definitely want to try again to see what comes afterwards!

This is so, so good. And I ran into the same freeze-up bug twice. It was so excellent that I went back a second time to get through the whole story, but I lost track of time in the mines again and got stuck in the loop. I didn't restart the entire game a third time, so I didn't get to the end of the story. :(
The bug happens when the timer goes below zero in the mines. The score mode counts the timer down to zero, but it seems to check == and not <= so it goes deeper and deeper into negative territory, racking up a top score but also locking the game forever: https://imgur.com/a/mVylK6K
That one flaw aside, this is AWESOME. It's got a great look and feel, I'm interested in the story, and in a great way I care more about the arcade games because of my very limited coins. And wow the games are just great.
This is a very strong all-around compo entry that hits graphics, sound, gameplay, and narrative... and the fact that it's so well polished makes the breadth of scope that much more impressive.
A few random notes on the individual arcade games:
- Asteroids is made a lot more fun with your touch of friction, great feel
- Mines was a really interesting puzzle-ish game, and I spent the most time here. I had to explore a bit to learn the rules. Specifically I got confused by the behavior of stacks of boulders: for a while my mental model was "sometimes rocks fall off sideways but mostly they don't" - took me a little while to learn the reason. I never dared to unleash the monsters
Maybe I'll come back to try the story a third time and just not play the mines.

@pkenney since the LD rules allow it I made a fix so the game wont freeze anymore if timer reach 0. The new version is online.
The game looks amazing, sadly I can't run it on Linux. Downloaded the sources, that's haxe right? I think I should be able to run it on linux if it's haxe

This is amazing! Each of the individual minigames is as polished as I would expect any ludum dare game to be! All that on top of a nice framing game around them. I'm genuinely floored at how complete this game feels.

Really good job ! The two mini-games are well done, playable, polished, and the graphics are really well done ! Unfortunately, I cannot test anything in the game because I really suck on these minigames, but it's really good !

I love the arcade romantic, I get really nostalgic myself playing this. The cool pixel art graphics are beatifully crafted, the animations of me getting older and the awesome arcade games, the whole game is really a world of its own! Very well done!
The sound design is just as good, the background music and the bleepy sound effects for the games, this is how it was back then :-)
Overall a really great entry. The arcade games are really hard, I only got 4/9 stars overall but that is how these games really were, they were designed to such coins out of your pocket so a very accurate recreation of the past ;-)
