Bro, link not working
Dammit! Thanks, think I didn't publish the itch.io draft at that time. Can you try again? https://42bytes.itch.io/life
Didn't even have time to test the macOS build - just fingers crossed that that one works. Also no Windows build right now, might add one tonight, just didn't have access to a Windows machine during the jam.
Oh wow. I actually don't know what to say... I like artstyle. It's similar to Petscope I think. Character controll a bit weird, but ok. And Camera is too slow. But I enjoyed this game!
So the WebGL version worked in Chrome but not Firefox. For some reason the controls didn't register.
Oh really? Sorry, thanks for letting me know, not sure what would cause that. Thanks for playing.
Hi! Sweet little game, I like the camera angle and the way you run through 2D assets in a 3D world ! I think the main issue is the control, they maybe should be more nervous. Otherwise I like the idea and the game is actually fun!
Nice mix between 2D and 3D graphics! The darkness makes the game quite spooky :)
Nice hybrid 2D/3D pixel art game ! I love the "don't thinking about the past" mechanic ! Cool music and good controls ! Great job !
NIce little game! I loved the 2d/3d mix. Some pickups felt a bit like obstacles, like why would I pick a child or a house if there's no beneficial tradeoff, so I ended up dodging most of the. I really liked your take on the theme. Good job!!
Concept is really interesting and unique. One thing I don't know it's necessary: No backwards movement. It's kinda annoying, but maybe that was the point to not make decisions too fast. Graphics and audio are pleasant. Camera movement is worse, but in overall the game is made well!
@webox Thanks, yeah I know it's not quite clear but buying a house or getting kids adds to your life expectancy. Even though many parents would argue the second definitely reduces it... :D
@borys Cheers, yeah blocking the backwards movement was a last-minute decision, it was too boring otherwise. And Ludum Dare is all about experimenting, right? And true, Camera is super crap, only spent like 5min on the script, could be way smoother.
It worked for me in firefox but I found not being able to shoot sideways kinda annoying
Lol, funny game about life where everything is trying to kill you :D Pretty much like in real life except in real life everything goes much slower than in the game so you usualy don't notice that you are getting slowly killed ;-) Sweet music, reminds me this tv series https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0284735/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1. Nice game tho!
Nice. Very fun!
Simple fun, but fun nonetheless :)
Very original concept! Sometimes I get stuck, but is a funny game. My record is 94 years ^^. Good job!
Love the looks of the game, someone already said it reminded them of Petscop (2d sprites in a 3d world, looming black fog), and I totally agree. I personally tried going for a running-through-life run with zero kills and made it about 60, which is not bad for a person carrying a life-load of stress behind them haha. There were actually moments where it seemed like I was outrunning the camera, which while maybe a bug, works pretty well thematically
