Well... you could say that your game has some "bugs" ;)
@minelsaygisever yeah, the game is a little bit challenging, sorry for that :D Thanks for your feedback!
@arvejeitor hahaha that was a good one! Ironically, especially when you say it to us! We are game testers in real life ;)
After that I'm not sure I still want to eat that cake... :p Challenging game, I love the final boss :D
@theog :laughing::smile:
I like the hand drawn guys and the realistic pictures of insects, cool contrast.
Thematically it seems a bit lacking, but I enjoyed myself, and found it funny.
Wow! I really enjoyed this game but now my finger hurts haha. This was a really fun game and I like the music. Good game but if the people got happier if you left them off for a certain amount of time and the timer should pause when you win. Other than that good entry! Well done!
Awesome, I didn't know I could click the people at first (I only read the part of the instructions that said to click on the insects to kill them). But once I did, they started spinning and killing the insects, which is pretty cool! And I agree with the above comment saying that their happiness should regenerate. That would be a cool addition since the spinning people are actually a pretty cool mechanic in this game which separates it from being a normal clicker game. Keep it up and continue making games!
Neat game! I included it in my compilation video series of games from the Ludum Dare, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/8tDu1hDasJ8
@eatatjoes , @cjn , @yyz , @jupiter-hadley Thank you for your comments and video! We really appreciate it, and glad that someone liked our game.
The idea about mood restoration for family members sounds very interesting. Perhaps we will be able to implement it in a more game-like way with some new mechanics. e.g. The player may throw some candies on the table, and if a family member grabs it - his/her happiness will be restored by a bit.
Also, seems that ability to squash the bugs in the first place is not very clear from the start of the game. Same, about the family members. Usually, people use only one mechanics instead of combining both. We need to add some short tutorial to work this issue around.
Are you planing to release a Mac version?
@franfox Unfortunately I'm not able to make a Mac build for now. Sorry. The nearest workaround may be the HTML build. We had one, but it was too badly optimized to left it on itch.io.
I will try my best to fix it during the next week, and rebuild it for the Web. Please, stay tuned :wink:
@bbaf sure thanks!
An interesting idea and liked the art of the family members.
What insects! Your entry is fun and really funny :joy:
*Gross!* That swarm of bugs gives me the creeps!
I don't see a thematic connection here. This is a tower defense, without a maze, where the towers will overheat if not micro managed; there are no sacrifices!
A sacrifice is about giving something valuable away in exchanged for something potentially more valuable taken the situation. There should be some risk involved. Here everyone is working towards the same goal, and they will eventually fail no matter what. I didn't get the theme right either, though, so there's that!
If the project was to be expanded to a tower defense, or a simple survival challenge, then there should be a goal for the player to fight for, be it to complete a level or to reach a high score. Currently the "towers" are very ineffective so the exercise becomes mostly about clicking. Clicking challenges are very annoying as excessive clicking *itself* is very annoying... Not a fan.
The graphical assets don't fit together well, they are all in different styles. This affects the mood too, which is improved up by the quirky music though.
The design isn't there, but the project it is functional... *no bugs.*
