Nice game, Love how everything is balanced! Good luck, Don't forget to take a look at ours if you don't mind and see what it's like when we just focused on graphics in this game jam! Game Link: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/spacelab-42

The game would have been better with audio, it felt empty without it. Also, there didn't really seem to be any goal to the game. Would also have been nice if I could have moved with the arrow keys also. A paper tearing sound would have really added to the world.
fun game, I enjoyed it! it was however quite hard in the beginning to understand the controls and what was the goal of the game. otherwise good job!

interesting idea, was fun to play for a while but the controls were a bit confusing
Credit where credit is due: the graphics and UI for this game are polished and clean-looking. Took a little bit to work out the controls, I would have liked pick up/drop/open to all be on 'E'. But it's playable and a fun concept.
I think this game is sorely lacking the depth to pull the design off. There are not enough stacking combinations, not enough item rules, not enough rules restrictions, and not enough different objects (sofas, TVs, arcade cabinets, pinball tables) to open up. The strategy atm is very shallow: set aside one wall of the house, clear it. Start from the top. If the given item can be placed there, place it. Otherwise, move one square down and repeat. Since I don't need to worry about stacking order this always works. And I can get far enough into the game with this strategy that I get bored long before it stops working.
Most concerning is that you actually made a lot of assets for the game - the TV, the sink, the monitors and doors and sofas. But all you ever give the player is lamps and unmarked grey bricks. There's a lot of effort put into asset creation that you never implemented into the gameplay. And that's just sad to see.

Was quite fun loved the visuals , would have loved more variation (but then worse visuals) of things to stack and place etc. but I liked it!
As others before me, I found the controls & gameplay a bit unrefined. More focus on the art side: I loved the polished graphics and character design. You seem to have an eye for color schemes and that really set the mood for the game. And hey, sometimes I order lamps and unmarked grey bricks, no judging. Cool entry :)

Thanks all for the great feedback :grinning:
@rahim-pxr I'll be sure to check your game out, looks very interesting!
@dk5000p Very true! I generally leave audio until I've finished the game loop, which unfortunately only happened in the last few hours  I'll be sure to add some sounds to the post jam version, thanks!
@amras0000 Thanks for the in-depth feedback! I admit the controls that went into the final version were very basic and I'd intended to get around to polishing them a bit more, but didn't have the ability to extend into jam time this time around :slight_frown:
I agree that a lot of depth is missing. My initial plan had a sanity system that would require players to stack things neatly as well as items that could be stacked over multiple tiles. However, the stacking system quickly became way too complicated and debugging the issues with it would've taken way too long (had already wasted 2-3 hours on that part) so I had to remove the larger items :expressionless:
I'm glad you liked the graphics! It's certainly one of my stronger skills and I find making a game a lot easier if I know the assets I'm working with, hence the various unused assets :stuck_out_tongue:
Thanks again for the detailed feedback! It'll help a lot when I polish the game once the judging ends.
@arctic-allosaurus Thanks! I do love me a simple colour-palette :paintbrush:

Dude, the idea looks great, but there's just too much controls. Maybe make things more intuitive, like using WASD to select objects and closer keys to pick / open objects (or even the same key)
Great game! Very cool and interesting! :D

I think the premises are interesting, the art is really cool, but I totally missed the point of the game. There doesn't seem to be any challenge or objective. I piled stuff without any direction so I lost interest quite fast. My other main concern is the control scheme: WASD to move, arrows to select the parcel, Space to take a parcel but Enter to select it, while Enter opens a package when you hold it. It seems totally inconsistent and not really intuitive. I guess you could reduce the key controls and use them better. It's a nice first draft, with a couple of iterations more, I'm sure it can become a great and addicting game.

Awesome graphics! I'm still not sure about the purpose of the game but I did some box moving, box opening and stacking and I agree the controls were a bit weird at first but you get into it. Sound and music would have been awesome, without it everything feels kind of dead.
Nice Graphics. I wouldn't say that I have a "fun" time as I did not real fell any purpose. But you really brough us in the theme mood, with some humour.

@aszu The controls are an issue, I ran out of time to proper polish and balance the game  My usual problems shining through, still learning to manage time.
@rend Thanks! I'm still learning when it comes down to making 'slightly' more complex systems and I still struggle with debugging. The controls seem to be the biggest issue based on most comments, I certainly fluffed them up :stuck_out_tongue: I plan to finish this entry and update my itch page after the event so I guess we'll hopefully see if you're correct about its potential :grinning:
@cg-fred There were plans for a sanity mechanic and a need to order the items by type as well as items larger than 1 square, but I ran out of time and wasn't able to get the monday off of work :grimacing:
@vfabien21 Thanks! I'd agree about the fun part, the game has a lack of urgency unfortunately.
