The game feels polished and I didn't have any bugs. But I think your game doesn't quite fit the theme.

I enjoy cooking IRL, I also enjoyed it in this game. The tutorial helped a lot! Gj

awesome game there :D simple but fun

*i'm speechless lol*

marshcannon 2017-12-05 01:18

Nice work! I'm impressed you managed to add a tutorial within the time limit! Also glad to see somebody else using love. I think some hotkeys for the different spices would have made it play a bit smoother.

william-bundy 2017-12-05 01:30

I had fun; but it seemed like the game ended right after your paycheck? It was still satisfying to complete people's soup, so good job!

shinyogre 2017-12-05 01:38

I agree with MarshCannon, the game could be much more enjoyable with hotkeys for the spices. Also, visual and aural feedback for when spices are selected and added to the soup would make it easier to play. It is odd that spices decay so quickly and you end up putting a metric ton of spices into the soups.

P.S. I love LÖVE!

Having a tutorial was really nice, the music was a bit loud with headphones but enjoyable.

svarttand 2017-12-05 14:38

Nice and simple. Some hotkeys would help smooth out the game instead of having to go and click on the spices so often. The music helped with the mood a lot.

I enjoyed this game thoroughly. I like the unique approach and interesting theme. Thinking about those spices got my mouth watering lol. But it was a very innovative concept. Timing the three flavors to the customers liking. Quite realistic how they fade over time.

Overall the game was structured and organized nicely. Clean UIs, intuitive flow, and thorough tutorial. Nice game!

The tutorial is really a great addition, a simple but fun game, good job! :)

Really well-polished for a jam! The mechanics were fun, but I don't quite see the connection to the theme... (maybe I just don't get it?). As others have said, thanks for the really smooth tutorial!

Nice little polished game, worked very well with no bugs. Was pretty fun to play, despite the controls of having to use both mouse buttons a little odd (that may just be me though). Don't really see 100% how it fits the theme, but it was a good game.

really nice, with good tutorial and overall quite good graphics - minimalist but to the point. The sound, however, was a bit annoying

wareification 2017-12-07 03:51

The gameplay and theme reminded me a lot of a Mario Party or Pokemon Stadium minigame.

Like many others, I was quite glad to have the tutorial on this one. Not because the game was difficult to understand, but just so that I could jump into doing the main game right instead of failing a lot first.

Only suggestion I can really make might be to add a little bit more variation. Once I had the timing down, and a strategy for ordering, it was pretty hard to make a mistake. Having different recipes that have unique decreasing velocities for the ingredients would help prevent players from getting TOO comfortable. But thats all just magic extras, nothing needed for such a tight deadline!

Best score I could get: 211.95.

Challenging, fun game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 40 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0hdEq4T8dE

@jupiter-hadley Thanks!

Interesting idea, this game has a lot of potential. I agree with others, if you have hot keys it would make things a lot better. The game doesn't fit the theme now, but I could really see it being one of those games where customers would walk into your store and give you their order and as time progresses, more customers would come at a faster rate, making the player having to fulfill their orders at a quicker pace or else the customers would get angry and leave. But overall this is a really great idea and fun!

cptalbertwesker 2017-12-22 12:16

I really liked this idea, I was getting $40 tips for my soup too! Didn't realise I was such a soup chef :D I think the decay over time added a good element to keep you on your toes (which it definitely did) but at the same time it felt like I could max the seasonings and not care too much, would have been nice if they perhaps affected each other as you put them in perhaps!

marekkpie 2017-12-25 19:17

@cptalbertwesker thanks for the comment. ur suggestion at the end was what I initially attempted, but I couldn't find a good enough balance between how much it would affect the others without it being nearly impossible to complete. so i just went with the decay route rather than tinker for too long and not have time to finish the actual game.
