Cool little game. I like the concept but the tutorial text at the start goes way to fast to be able to read so I had to restart it a few times to catch everything.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD40 → Inperito();

Very creative game. I've never played anything like it before. Props for the creativity. The art is cute! I ran into a similar issue with the tutorial. It continued on past where I was at currently and it was a bit of a struggle to catch up. Overall, very fun little game, though. Congratulations on finishing your first game! Wonderful job.
Thank you both! The text was a last minute thing, we felt like we had to include it but had no time to make it so that the text displays at the right times/sections. That's definitely coming in a future update, and we certainly aren't done with this game yet, so keep an eye out for that if you're interested!
Very unique and fun mechanic, even though I was confused about the tutorial. **But overall very nice little game!** :grinning:
Thanks! The text will be fixed in the version uploaded right after the voting ends, and we're also adding music and more levels in future updates! (These will be after the voting is finished, we can't add those features right now, the rules don't allow for that.) Thanks for playing and voting!
The mechanics are really interesting and have alot of potential and good looking sprites. there's a small bug where you can "climb" up walls by typing in JUMP various times.
@luther Correct, we will have to fix this in an upcoming version. Thanks for the feedback!
@hugmugi7 Thanks! We tried our hardest haha, the tutorial will be fixed as @daneeh said
@viperfish9 Appreciate the feedback! We still have to add event triggers for the text.
@nia Your praising words make us happy haha, thanks a lot!
If you all are interested we are planning on finishing the game, so stick around on the itch.io page for updates!
Hey there. I'm not exactly a typing expert, so I didn't get veeeery far. Retried the second level a few times before ragequitting for making typos on the worst moment or not typing fast enough. Regardless, the game looks great and is very functional.
I played on a windowed screen though, and I couldn't exit the game through traditional means, so that's something to take in consideration.
Well, that's pretty much it. I'm not exactly the ideal person to leave you a meaningful response, but a game like this is well worth a look or two. After all, the pixel art is very cute. In behalf of our team, we hope that you can show us something as good, if not better, on future jams! See ya! :whale:
Very neat game, little unsure how it fits the theme but it was still fun. I had some issues where it seemingly would not pick up some of my keys. Got a bit frustrating at points. I also didn't have any sound or music despite the robot dude mentioning it.
I can see this being pretty solid with a bit more time though, good job.
@moski thanks for the kind words, and for leaving a review! I'm sorry you had an issue with windowed mode, I probably should've put in a keybind that lets you quit with the "escape" key or something like that, and I probably will do that tomorrow if the rules allow for it.
Future updates (post Ludum Dare) will include menus and such, as we're planning on fully fleshing out and polishing this game and adding many new levels. If you're interested, you can follow us on glowigames.itch.io for updates!
Also, we do plan on participating in the next Ludum Dare jam(s), and I saw in the comments below your LD40 submission that your team Whales and Games is quite well known on this site, so we'll probably meet again next time! See ya!
@logicon211 our intention with the theme was originally something like "the more letters/words you have, the more difficult it gets", but I have to admit we liked the typing commands concept so much we kinda lost track of the theme, hehe.
Your issue with keypresses not registering might be due to too many keys being pressed at once. My laptop keyboard, for instance, can only register 3 simultaneous keypresses. I don't really know a fix for this, so the only option is to type a bit more slowly if this is indeed the case. :/
You're right about the music. Sadly we did not have enough time to implement it, but that will be coming in a post-LD update on glowigames.itch.io/inperito as well as fixed text cues, and a whole bunch of fun stuff. We're going all the way with this project, and we'll see where it gets us! If you're interested you can follow us on itch.io, and we'll definitely be around for the LD41 jam!
I really like the mechanic of typing in the commands and it made even simple platforming puzzles something of a challenge to complete since I needed to be looking ahead and ready with the next command, but it was sometimes frustrating to type out the full command to do some actions (like doublejump in particular) or forgetting the particular word necessary (press instead of push on the button, or was it push instead of press?). I also ran into issues where the tutorial text kept going before I would actually finish a section or get to the part that text text was about.
@arkthalohs thanks for leaving a review! The tutorial text is bad cause we ran out of time, but it will be fixed when the jam voting is over. (The rules don't allow implementation of new features during voting.) The doublejump is a long command but it's also a very good one, so that kinda balances it out  Also, you will remember the commands better if you play the game more
Reeeeally nice. I was amazed by the mechanics. Needs some polish, but it's good as it is
@versatile-box thanks! That means a lot to us! We're definitely not done with this project, and we'll give it the polish it deserves after the voting round, so follow us on glowigames.itch.io if you're interested!
I will!
Nice game, I like the concept and it works well despite the lack of sounds. However the tutorial was so fast, I had to tried the game multiple times to follow everything that was going on.
Anyway great job for a first game, you can be proud of yourselves. :)
@moski Hello! Everything that needs to be said, has actually been said by @daneeh haha. I also appreciate your compliments and hopefully we'll see you next jam!
@logicon211 Sadly despite the amount of time put into the music, it wasn't implemented on time :( Either way, thanksfor the feedback!
@arkthalos Thanks for the heads-up! We're gonna keep working on it as @daneeh said!
@versatile-box Yup, we're gonna polish it after the LD voting! Thanks!
@taldius Thanks for the review! Appreciate the positive words, we're going to keep polishing it after LD and you can follow the progress on itch.io!
Very unique idea and nice concept. Works well for LD40! Needs a little bit more polish, but worked well for me :3
@nivbeth Thanks for the review! We're going to polish it after LD40! If you stay tuned, check out our itch.io page!
oh congratulation! Nice art! Can I follow it also on indiexpo? Do you have also a page there? This looks great! I looked for the games that used the #LDJAM but I don't find yours. So good luck!! I will hope to make a video about it!
On OSX I get this error :/ The application “Inperito_LD40_final_mac” can’t be openend
@roy87 Thanks! we don't have an indiexpo page, sorry. You can follow us on itch.io though!
@wakka2 I don't own a mac and don't know how to fix this problem, but I added a webGL build so you can play the game in your browser!
Awesome game! Loved the innovative controlls. Might be nice to slow down the tutorial or give a hint about how to run them again. I started out jaming the keyboard to try and walk around and missed half of the initial dialog so i had some trouble catching up! ;D
In every other aspect it was a nice experience!
Neat game! The tutorial was a bit rushed, I missed half the dialogue while fiddeling with the controls. The concept is great, and the game plays really nice. Its a great game! Good job
@natwomb and @wizzardmaker thanks for playing! The tutorial will be fixed in a post-LD update, but we can't update it now, because that's against LD rules. Make sure to follow us on glowigames.itch.io and also both me and @maxwell here on the LD site if you're interested in seeing where this game goes.
