It's more like a demo for demoscene. What algorithms have you used for generating pictures?

keenmustdie 2017-05-02 18:06

@cybek definitely more demoscene inspired than anything else. it uses a custom version of surt's html5 sprite generator for the pictures, and a cocktail of VFX & RNG for the distortion and lighting. the music is pretty much just pasted on there; in the future, it would be neat to use a modular track or procedural music which might create itself according to the generated pictures/numbers, or even find a way to make audio and graphics feed off each other

I wish I could control the music rhythm somehow (like you said - a procedural music, but with some variables from user input). And Shaders is always +.

Also, I've checked Missile.KMD  It's a game!

togimaro 2017-05-12 12:46

Strange and far from the theme but I love it  A procedural music can be awesome, I hope you will do it :D

Good job!

Interesting thing. I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZ-D40BBNhA

It's not much of a game (nor does it have anything to do with the theme), but it's still very cool. I think it would be even better if it took up the whole screen and you could remove the music display thing.

Nice graphics

@cybek @icxon @togimaro @jupiter-hadley @veralos @gama-croma & all you lovely anons out there, thank you so much for your feedback and for giving CryoDream a go!

I've been playing LD games for years now, and finally felt confident enough to throw my hat in the ring. This was my first ever submission, and it's admittedly a non-game entry -- even if I'd managed to make it interactive within the time limit, it would (or rather will, as I plan to develop it further) still be mostly a toy.

Also, I fully accept your judgement that the theme interpretation is thin at best. Having Bruno over, we felt that the "Small World" theme would be best served by our own interactions while catching up on each other's lives, sharing moments of play, conversation, and cooperation. Jupi totally nailed it by calling this an excuse for two old friends to hang out and make something together.

10/10 would gladly fail again!

Congratulations on making a thing! Nothing wrong with toys :)

Certainly looks cool

Woah, this is super cool! What a great use of your time on the weekend, I think you guys did a great job. What an excellent excuse to both catch up with eachother and create something new and creative! I hope you feel proud of your first submission!

I fed all the comments into a word cloud and got back this lovely beat poem!

I kinda like it, even if it doesn't quite fit. But who cares! Having fun at ludum dare, right? :-)

himeija 2017-05-20 13:55

What is that thing ? xD

I can't tell if it's good or bad, if it's a game or not ....

You broke my brain !!!

vikinggames 2017-05-20 15:40

This is really simple, but really cool. I like how the graphics that generate sort of look like weird alien worlds, fitting the theme in an odd way. Even though it's not really a game, good job!
