The graphics are very pretty. I wish there could be more of a stealth element to it too (given the dark level - darkness = stealth)!

I find your game really entertaining, and I love the atmosphere it has.
I see myself in some days playing my compo favourite games and yours is one of those without any doubt.

Nice graphics. The goal of the game is not as clear as it could be. Explorate the map, get the gold, buy some unknown stuff and got killed by baddies.. Maybe a longer tutorial would be appreciated :)

Very nice. The art is good (I like that there's more than one tree sprite) and I love the little musical cues when you find a book. The combat seems quite easy as long as you keep your distance, but it works. It would have been nice if the ground had a subtle texture to it. This seems like it could be turned into a full length game if you wanted to.

Very nice game! Simple but good graphics and atmospheric sounds (I love rainy games!). And, of course, a bit of storytelling which is kind of rare among all the games. I like it!

But I couldn't find out how to fight. I found a sword but couldn't swing it. Also, the inventory seemed to be always empty, even after I picked up stuff.

Overall, a very nice game for 48 hours!

Quite a text dump to start, but I was intrigued by the story and it was well presented. Thankful for the tutorial elements at the beginning as well.

It wasn't immediately apparent to me that the controls included the mouse! But I figured it out.

Couldn't figure out how to fight the enemies without taking massive damage, so I mostly avoided them until I died.

The rain effect was wonderful, and the art is good. The music when you find each book was very nice, would have liked more musical elements and sound effects as well.

Great job!

it seems like it could be a lot of fun but I can't figure out how to interact with anything.

Neat game, though I wasnt sure how to use potions. I included it in my compilation video series of Ludum Dare 36 games, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/XIU4hYAXhy0

The sound loop and darkness are very atmospheric! Love it.

My first try, I got a heck of a lot of potions and then I died.
On my second try, I got a heck of a lot of coins and then I died.
On my third try, I got a heck of a lot of swords, but that didn't seem to do me any good, but then I won anyway. LOL.

I found that it was easier to hit enemies while positioned below or to the left of them, and a deathzone when I'm positioned to the right or above them. This difference is most apparent in that I'm able to have an enemy stick themselves up against a tree, and I can easily hit them from the other side while they can't hit me back, but this doesn't work from northern or eastern approaches.

An animation for punching or sword swiping would've been nice to have, because before I discovered the stand-west-or-south-of-the-enemy trick, I wasn't sure if I was even attacking. I also think I picked up an axe(?) at some point, but I'm not too sure if that actually happened because I didn't see anything pop up in the HUD boxes up top (not too clear on how the inventory works; I only ever saw my tiny itty bitty sword in a corner of a box there, and the other two were always empty).

I eventually got all the words (I realized this when books took my money but didn't pop up any text) and went to the cube (took me a while to find it again because I forgot where it was) and the rain stopped! But it stayed dark. The description led me to believe that the eternal darkness would've been lifted as well. Darn! I really wanted to see the light come back!

Nice job though, especially for 48 hours!

@Jelinib Thanks for the review! I did have to leave out a few things, especially the darkness thing, but it's actually quite gross looking without the graphical cover. :)

Very impressive for a compo game! Props for getting feedback sound effects in. Also really liked that you put thought into the story, e.g., making up Kelzi words in some of the prompts.
