Fun little game. It was hard to judge my shots without hit markers though

Thanks kivlor. I had really wanted to get some effects in the game, but ran out of time.
You can build for windows?
I loved the tree algorithm you used! Really cool! Great little prototype! Hope you guys had fun making it :D! I ran out of ammo very quickly, need more of that ;P
okoto: I may do a windows build, it'll be a bit of work and I haven't decided if I will for sure or not. It's a custom engine and it's been a long time since I did a windows build.
Danoli3: Thanks! The tentacles came out better than I expected, but took quite a bit of time. Also, regarding ammo, press R to reload, it's infinite.
Its a hard game to pull of in the limited amount of time. I liked the growing plant and stuff.
Would love to see a windows version? :-)
I also like the tree algorithm
'Twas terribly tantalizing, truly titillating... Tremendous try!
Pretty fun, it could use sounds and hit feedback
Windows build please? :D
I guess the growing planting is shifting its shape by growing? A bit tenuous but fine. The tentacled thing's animation is nice. I had to use E as the window was centered above where you lock down the mouse so if I click I was taken out of the app. (2560x1440 res)
Custom engine, nice weed algorithm, wow. On the other hand i wish it be more... game, maybe tentacles that hit you?
Interesting to see so many people using OSX here on LD; looking at the comments! Not that there's a problem with that, just interesting!
Hope to see a windows build though! Will bookmark to check back later for an update/ reply =)
Thanks everyone who has taken the time to play and comment!
I have been slowly working on a Windows port, but a nice spring-time cold got in the way and I spent yesterday in bed. I did manage some progress, so I hope to have something ready by the weekend.
As an engineer, and not a designer or artist, I tried to rely on my strengths and so the result is: cool tech, limited other aspects. Next time I may try to focus on my weaknesses to try and improve them, instead.
I do have a lot of ideas for expanding the game. First is to do an actual weapon system. Ballistics, different weapon types, firing and hit effects. Another idea is to have the weed grow pods, or flowers, or something, that can add an additional layer to the gameplay. The pods may fire at the player, or drop additional health, or something. And I'd also like to get some good ole wigglin' in the tentacle.
A lot of aspects got rushed and are left overly minimal. Actually, it's been difficult to work on porting when what I really want to do is expand the game. Well, you all know this, of course.
Thanks again, and stay tuned if you're waiting for a port!
Also, if anyone is curious about how the tentacle is created, I did a little write up in a post the other day.
Really cool plant growth algorithm, totally got into it like physically looking up when i was under one trying to fight for my life. haha Loved the game.
Aw, too bad it's Mac only, because it's a game I'd like to try for the title alone.
Oh wow, at first I was like, "umm, what?" and then I was like "HOLLY S***!"lol Pretty fun and stress game. The forming of the vines started to grow REALLY fast after awhile and was impossible to manage with just the pistol. Adding some epic weapons such a machine guns, flamethrowers, and explosives would be veddy nice ;) The visuals need work, and as well as the sound. The gun sounded too fake and there wasn't any visual projectiles coming out of the gun. Overall, pretty decent game to play at it's current state, but I believe could be a GREAT game if expanded on.
the creepers growing mechanics is really cool. I real fun.
