nICE SATIRE
Wow. Uh... not sure whether to enjoy this or not. It deserves some props though.
Thanks @ OldPeculier ; ultimately I'd like to design something with more nuance and clearer satire in the mechanics of the game play. I was very aware that the mechanics of the game play might feel *very* uncomfortable.. given the material.
Pretty cool! Needs some animations though :P
Yours is the first other police shooting-inspired game I've played this Ludum Dare. I found the actual gameplay to be upsetting. But I was touched by the biting, bitter sarcasm of the ending text.
I'm not here to get into politics, so I won't comment on the nature of the satire, but from a gameplay perspective it was ok. The cop moved a little slow, and at times it felt like the hit boxes on the civilians were too big and made it easy to hit the wrong target. The graphics were good, if a bit rough around the edges, and the sounds did a good job helping set the tone of the game. You hit the mark on mood, for sure, and I can definitely feel the setting you were trying to create. I just wish there was a bit more to the gameplay itself.
Well... It gets to the point I guess. But it could use some more subtlety.
Hi there. Well done making the political point... Pretty good shooter for a first pass. Good job!
There's satire and then there's trying too hard to be satirical. Game works well though!
Taking a pacifist route tells me I shot too many affluent, white or otherwise people.
Wellll. I do like the message, and the game itself is solid. Your way of getting the message across however might be a little brute force style. :D Not necessarily bad, but as somebody said before a more subtle approach might have worked better. Anyway it's always cool to see some sociopolitical commentary in LD games!
Nice to see someone else had basically the same idea I did.
