A little too basic -- it gets boring fast.
I know... I'll try to make something more interesting next time. Something whish has a storyline. :)
A storyline would be good but wont help the lack of options in gameplay. The good point is in this kind of game, block is usually a useless move. In your game you have to block to hit again, that's a bit repetitive but it works. Infact you just need to add some other attacks, crouch or distance attack.
I wanted to add some magic or different types of enemies, but lost too much time doing nothing to improve the game... It's my first LD, so I'll listen to the advices, and I hope my next game will be better.
Unfortunately, .NET and WINE don't agree. Screenshots are very... interesting, though.
The basic patterns were very simple but it was fun beat up some strange blobby thingys, a scrolling map would make this game very fun...
Although the game is extremely simple, this was sort of fun; the challenge was to figure out how to handle multiple attackers. The answer I found was to stand in front of the left cave and keep blocking, then punch right after the attackers (who crawled in from the right) punched at me. Anybody who came from the left didn't seem to attack, maybe because he emerged right on top of me. Anyway, that technique lets you attack without being attacked, and might be the only way to get to 25 without dying. Good start; more gameplay complexity might be good. I liked the art style; the gray guys and their animations were funny.
For some reason game ran super-fast - is that the idea?.. A bit more gameplay wouldn't hurt.
kibertoad, I think it's a bug. Maybe there is a troubles with fps code. It should work fine, but I can't say for sure.
haha, it was too difficult for me (maybe it ran too fast?). Your first LD? Well done. Maybe to get more out of the 48 hours you could try to use a platform/framework that does a lot of basic stuff for you (like gamemaker), so you can work more on gameplay/graphicss/sound.
I'm going to try XNA next time. And i should have spent more time on the game instead of sleeping :D
