| Oct 7 23:50:06 | Fairy Haven: The Search for Home | ♥ 2 | My first game I explored everything, ran out of feyberries quickly, and my colony quickly failed, score of 300. Tried again, mostly stopped reading events at this point (as it seemed like I was just getting repeats) and founded a colony quickly, but the deers apparently killed me. And I ran out of food. Tried one more time, and again settled quickly, but found a better spot, I guess =). Screenshot 2024-10-07 164442.png This game looks great. It felt a little weird that returning to existing locations would give a new random event which sometimes felt contrary to the first one, maybe it would have been better if each location gave only 1 event (and, after that, just gave the option to colonize). I like the map, moving around it is fun and it was fun to explore. Nice job! | |
| Oct 8 00:13:19 | 23m 13s | Don't Scratch That Itch | ♥ 1 | I managed to survive 76 seconds after 2 tries. The title screen is dang amazing, nice use of the tiny creatures there =). I liked the (random?) zooming in and out, really made it uncomfortable and hard to plan for what I was going to do next, which made the gameplay pretty engaging. Nice job! |
| Oct 8 00:22:45 | 9m 26s | Carrot Patch | ♥ 2 | My score: 143. When the second tractor came out, it scared the heck out of me! When the third was out, I knew I was soon not long for this world. How could a farmer be so cruel as to harvest the carrots that I'm about to eat?! I usually love PICO-8 games, and this is no exception. Nice and simple and elegant, looks nice, and pretty fun! My only complaint was moving got a bit painful after a while (too much repeated button pressing), so having a key repeat / auto-move when you held down an arrow would have been nice. |
| Oct 8 02:27:19 | 2h 04m | Mini Beasts | ♥ 1 | My only complaint is that I make no progress when I get distracted by how good the music is. 😅 Being able to click anywhere and not have to walk through the, say, knight moves, each step at a time is really a great help. Brilliant puzzle design as usual! I made it through to the end, only had to reset/undo once (on the first stag beetle level), it was nice being able to (usually) get myself out of trouble. |
| Oct 8 04:02:01 | 1h 34m | Tiny Checkers | ♥ 2 | Wow, I _love_ this game. The core mechanics work great, there's a bunch of interesting things to buy, and it kept me interested and engaged to the end. _Lots_ of potential to expand this, but it's such a deep and interesting game already! My only complaint is that occasionally I would end up ending my turn when there was more jumping that could be done (early on, because I clicked on my two possible targets to see what was special about them, not knowing that would cancel my jump - maybe clicking on an enemy piece should never end your move?). |
| Oct 9 23:59:23 | 43h 57m | The Fair Folk of Ridianfa | ♥ 1 | Interesting game! I enjoyed the text mode interface, would rate 4/5 for graphics if you didn't opt out =). I died apparently right near the end, didn't realize that my animals were apparently too low that day, and I'd just figured out which fae were on my farm so I was excited to please them and apparently forgot the animals :(. Was a little frustrating of an ending after spending so long on the farm, would have been nice if getting to 0 in a stat instead turned into random wounds or something so it was more clear that it led to a game over (or, mentioning that in the Help, which only mentioned Wounds causing a game over). Nice writing, and an impressive amount of content, well done! |
| Oct 10 00:06:49 | 7m 26s | Gull and Ray | ♥ 0 | Gamepad controls don't seem to work for me (trying the web build). |
| Oct 10 00:28:39 | 21m 50s | Beachfront | ♥ 2 | You _say_ it's asexual, but that's not what this looks like... Screenshot 2024-10-09 172615.png Was amusing when the reproduction rate kinda skyrocketed... guys, can you stop getting pregnant for a bit, please? I loved this. Music and their voices while being dragged were fantastic. Was a lot of fun to take care of them. Once I bought the last upgrade, I wished I'd had more to do / some reason to stick around for a bit more. |
| Oct 15 02:00:50 | 121h 32m | Tic Tac Trillion | ♥ 1 | Nice seeing a multiplayer game! I played this against a friend, and it was interesting. It seemed like there were some interesting concepts going on, but we have a very difficult time figuring out what exactly was going to happen when we filled a box - sometimes we'd place one next to an existing L and it'd form a new L, turning some of the old into a regular piece, and we'd get an extra turn, sometimes it wouldn't. In the end, we decided that it seemed like it would form a new combo if the new combo was farther up and to the left than the old one, which seemed weird, but mostly seemed to work. We also had strange things like when one player made a 6 in a row, somewhere _else_ on the board the _other_ player had a cross combo suddenly form (out of was was previously a 2x2 square and L, I think), which we had no explanation for... If it were more clear what was going on, I think we would have really enjoyed this, although we had fun anyway =). Nice job! |
| Oct 15 02:21:15 | 20m 25s | The Germinator | ♥ 1 | On the (3rd?) level with then green poison, I couldn't figure out where to go after getting the powerup and turning off the green light, and ended up jumping outside of the level and falling for eternity... 😢 Found the exit after a couple tries, though =). On the next level (also green, with a big red and blue glowing thing), the movement sensitivity felt way too high. I spent quite a long time and only once managed to get up to the first platform without falling off of the little wires, and then was never able to make it past that :(. Platformers aren't really my strong point, but maybe a "walk" button or something would have made that doable. A cross-hair or something so I know where the center of the screen is might have also helped, as it was really hard to line up the little bars to walk on such that I didn't fall off them. The bacon texture is great. I like the atmosphere. Web build ran pretty well! |
| Oct 15 02:37:55 | 16m 40s | CYBERGERM 9001 | ♥ 1 | Neat game! It felt really satisfying when I got about (numerically) 50% of the way through and things started picking up pace - maybe getting to that point a little quicker would have been more satisfying. Honestly the game ended right when I was having the most fun (which, at least, means that I was left wanting to rate _Fun_ highly 😆). Web build worked great (as long as I didn't use the arrow keys, which seem to escape and scroll the itch.io page). |
| Oct 15 02:47:15 | 9m 20s | Petri Plate Potpourri | ♥ 1 | Nice! Gamepad controls didn't work in the web emulator for some reason, but they worked fine in my NES emulator of course =). I managed to clear 9 plates before running out of time. A couple times I apparently kept zooming right pas the impostors without quite making them visible and that ate up lots of time. Audio was nice, didn't get annoying =). |
| Oct 15 03:10:51 | 23m 36s | Tiny Tiny Tribes | ♥ 1 | Great game! Reminds me of SNRX, but less "I'm doing great and suddenly I die" 😆. I managed to hold on with 1 HP for a few rounds, ended my second game with a score of 468, and had a blast getting there with a bunch of Hunters. Took me a while to realize I didn't get a bonus from having 2 (or 4!) of the same guy, having just a little bit of telegraphing what was going to happen when I bought something would have been nice (e.g. when mousing over a guy, blink the second Hunter level letting me know it'd go up. Great work and really impressive amount of content and variety for a jam game! |
| Oct 15 03:30:27 | 19m 36s | My Keyboard is Full of Ants! | ♥ 3 | I'm disappointed "gamejam" is not in the dictionary... Really great game! Audio just rocks. Coming up with words was fun and challenging, but I didn't feel like I got punished, generally had fun all throughout. My final score was 33650. I didn't actually notice the story while playing, but upon assembling my letters together... I love it! keyboardants.png |
| Oct 15 03:50:21 | 19m 54s | Field Trip | ♥ 1 | Nice game! Web build worked great. For quite a while, I felt like I was just doing the same thing (same opening pattern that cleaned up most of the board without danger)... which was a bit boring until the board got bigger, and I had to try something different, which got me killed. Or, it should have, but for some reason I moved right next to a bird and he moved in the opposite direction (did the bird not realize this level was bigger than the last? 😆). I sometimes didn't notice it was about to become day or night, some feedback (background getting brighter, perhaps? or an audio cue?) on the turn right before that happened would be nice. Difficulty curve felt just about right, I was still having fun when I ran out of lives =). Screenshot 2024-10-14 204627.png |
| Oct 16 22:56:12 | 43h 05m | Meatheads | ♥ 2 | Really nice looking! I found this very difficult - pretty much always I'd get hit by one attack that wiped out my whole party which I thought was at full health, and I didn't have any meat left to spawn new ones :(. I restarted a few times, but couldn't seem to survive more than a minute, let alone do much damage ^_^. Controller controls worked really well, I like the color-coding of the unit types with the button colors! |
| Oct 16 23:03:23 | 7m 11s | Bugged Off! | ♥ 2 | Nice little game! Didn't take too long to get through it once I got the hang of things, but I enjoyed it! It could have perhaps used a little feedback when a bug was lost (seems like they could go a little under/off the various screen edges and sometimes come back?), just a "splat" sound or something =). I love the simple elegance of this. |
| Oct 17 00:05:04 | 1h 01m | The Fish that Figured it Out | ♥ 2 | Neat game! I was very short on the middle resource by the end, would have been nice if something buffed that one quicker =). It was also a little _too_ idle for me, I wish there was a bit more to do, or just less time waiting. I loved the little fix, especially the horn fish made me laugh when he first harvested something =). Watching the fish crowd into the rocket was a fantastic way to finish! Nice job! |
| Oct 17 22:43:00 | 22h 37m | Prince Charmony | ♥ 1 | Really nice game! At least one level was especially hard because I managed to make a tricky double-jump the first time, so assumed it was doable, then after grabbing the orb, I tried 100 times and could never replicate it -\_-. The walkthrough video was great since I saw you solved it with a completely different method, that required much less dexterity (or framerate drop?) to complete ^\_^. Music and sound awesome as always. I liked the twist ending =) |
| Oct 17 23:18:01 | 35m 01s | The Battle Of The Pixels | ♥ 1 | This is really great! I love seeing other people's visual designs and _also_ getting to fight their power choices =). I double-clicked once on level up and things broke horribly, but that at least gave me an excuse to make a new creature with a better design. Screenshot 2024-10-17 161413.png I wish I could easily see my level (later I found if I scrolled to the end of the list, I could "fight myself" and therefore see my level, but that was a pain), so I could know if I was fighting above or below my rank. When I leveled up my speed ("aggro"?) too much often battles would end with both of our troops just walking off the edge, sometimes counting as a loss, sometimes a win (maybe whoever walked slowest / spawned last won? 😆) Seems like you've got something potentially addictive here, I stopped at level 48, but kinda want to start over already and try a new build =). |
