Aug 2 20:15:57 Squanchy Squids ♥ 2 Had a good squanch of a time with this one, and I don't even think I'm using that word properly! The game itself is amusing and mildly fun. While the controllers were a bit odd, and the difficulty curve got cranked up really fast because of that, I still had a fun time pushing those pesky octopi into the depths of the blackest of holes. While the mechanics were simple, they allowed for some fun variance very early on. If I could give you some feedback (aside from sounds and music), it would be to fix the controllers and make the scoop more reliable. Adjust the frustrating factors, such as the time it takes for some octopi to get angry. I usually found myself in a horrible spot because of pushing them around or black holes somewhere nearby. Still, this game has a lot of expansion potential. Who knows? There could even be different squids with different scoops. Maybe even some visual randomization for the octopi. It'd be cool. I liked the game, so it'd be great to see if it goes into something bigger at a later time! If you have the time, consider [taking a quick look at our jam game as well](https://psychonull.github.io/ld39/). Other than that, great work once again! Keep up squanching, and enjoy the jam! 🐳
Aug 2 20:42:02 26m 05s BLACKOUT ♥ 2 This one is so far one of my favorite games of the jam so far. The introduction was very well done, and the tutorial was actually quite well structured as well. My favorite part of the game is how the "health bar" is the city itself. That makes the game feel very close to the theme. The mechanics were fun and simple enough, so I felt like I was playing a game like Runner or Canabalt, with a very cute aesthetic. The character and zombies looked great, and the puzzle elements were refreshing. Those puzzle elements, though, felt unfair at times. Some indications like signs that tell you where it's safe to fall off a pit would be appreciated, since otherwise, it felt like a cheap shot. Same with some parts with the dynamite, but other than that, I felt like the dynamite was a stroke of genius. I really would like to see how a game like this gets updated. With fixed and mroe convenient puzzle mechanics, it could become a very good mobile game. Well, that's that. While I'm here, if you have the time, [we would like you to take a look at our game](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/joulethief-charge-your-phone). Anyhow, good job once again. I really enjoyed Blackout, and I hope that you get to enjoy the rest of the jam! 🐳
Aug 2 20:57:26 15m 24s Giuseppe's Kidnapping ♥ 3 This game actually gave me goosebumps and the chills. Extremely unnerving. I loved it. On my first playthrough, I didn't know what was happening, and I thought that I was doing something wrong, or that I was being pranked. But on the second one, I started to catch on with how the life worked and about the blood packs, and it became extremely clear that this game was not toying around. While it's very simple, that the game itself is always getting closer to closing itself added an extra layer of urgency, forcing me to take better actions. As the poor unintelligible being kept bleeding out, I kept trying to find blood packages and trying to move as little as possible as to not get closer to death. I died and died again until it became a chore, but for the time that the game's mechanics were fresh, it was a blast. I can't think on how it could have been better executed. The music was fantastic (Way to go, Vegacide!), and the simple yet dreadful sprites were a wicked charm. Congratulations on making such a great experience! If you've got a moment, it'd mean a lot to us if you could [give our game a try](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/joulethief-charge-your-phone). Once again, amazing job on the jam, and I hope that you get to enjoy other entries as well! Cheers! 🐳
