LD59 — Signal

Survey by mattlevonian 2026-05-08T12:28:21Z

Really cool idea, especially for a first jam! The Morse code input system makes the shooter gameplay feel fresh and interesting, and I liked having to quickly remember the combinations under pressure.

The movement feels responsive and the game is fun while it lasts. I would love to see it expanded with more waves, maybe a way to regain health, and a bit more space in the arena.

Flag Fanatic by sebastianscaini 2026-05-08T12:31:29Z

Very creative and educational take on the theme! I didn’t know much about flag semaphore before playing, so the concept felt really fresh and interesting. The visuals are cute, and the music gives it a fun energy.

It is quite difficult for beginners, so a slower tutorial mode with single letters or shorter words first would help a lot.

Jim's Quest for Birthday present by Sobigdrasil 2026-05-08T12:36:45Z

Such a lovely and cozy game! The art style, animations, music, and sound design all work together beautifully, and the whole experience feels warm and relaxing. I really liked the metal detector idea for the theme, and the progression loop of finding treasures, selling them, and buying upgrades was very satisfying.

Switchboard by James_7777 2026-05-08T10:39:37Z

Really atmospheric and polished entry! I loved the noir mood, the rain and ambient sounds, and the way the switchboard mechanic fits the theme. Checking the paperwork and connecting the right ports feels very satisfying.

The text was a little hard to read sometimes with the pixel effect, but overall the game feels cohesive, stylish, and really well executed. Great work!

Obey the Signal? by RetenQ 2026-05-08T10:30:16Z

Nice concept! I like the idea of following—or trying not to follow—the signal from below. Even though it’s still rough, the core mechanic is clear and has potential for interesting puzzles. Congrats on joining Compo solo, and I hope you keep developing it further!

Really polished and relaxing puzzle game! The art, music, and sound design work together beautifully and create a very cohesive atmosphere. I also liked the signal-chain mechanic — it fits the theme well and feels intuitive.

Meerkat Panic! by yoko-san 2026-05-08T12:25:54Z

Really cute and funny jam entry! The meerkats are adorable, and the voice acting made me laugh a lot. I also liked how the sound effects help you notice the animals coming.

It does feel a little easy and slow after a while, but the core idea is charming and I’d love to see it expanded with more difficulty or progression. Great work!

The Signal of the Universe by Planetary 2026-05-08T10:36:28Z

Really cool concept! I liked the space physics and the idea of searching for signals, and the rover sections add a nice change of pace. The controls feel satisfying once you get used to them.

It can feel a bit punishing when landing too hard instantly ends the run, so maybe softer landing damage or checkpoints could help the flow. Overall, a fun and ambitious jam entry — great work!

@yoko-san Thank you so much for playing and for the kind feedback! Really glad to hear the itch.io version works better and that you liked the setting, audio, and atmosphere :)

That’s a very good point about the language selection. We’ll consider showing it before the game starts, or making it much more visible instead of hiding it in the settings. Thanks for pointing that out!

Really fun and unique interpretation of the theme! The art style, character designs, and music give the game such a strong personality, and the management gameplay gets surprisingly intense in a good way.

The signal system was a little hard to understand at first, and the pacing felt quite fast, but once I got into it, it was very fun. Great entry — sadly, I also got replaced by Felix 😄
