LD55 — Summoning

The Summoned by Tony Li 2024-04-18T18:59:22Z

This was really cool- at first I made a bad decision and my bloodline ended immediately, but I ended up giving great advice the second time around and made it to the end. Nice twist.

It was surprisingly profound as a concept!

Thalatta's Grand Heist by Silas Reinagel 2024-04-24T15:30:34Z

This was great but at a certain point after I got the unsummon ability, the puzzle became extremely unclear. I just meandered until time ran out.

Overall the art and music were enjoyable, and I liked the VO barks as the antagonist taunted you. The game was very stable and functioned as intended- the puzzle design just became too esoteric at a point.

Great job!

Call of Aether by Coda Highland 2024-04-20T03:19:14Z

I enjoyed this little demon-summoning narrative :D

The Shadow Realm Saga by EvilScotsman 2024-04-20T23:08:53Z

This game was fun. Simple concept, solid execution. Gotta love the gatling femur gun XD

Harod: The Eternal Summoning by KPidS 2024-04-18T21:39:24Z

I got the Good ending first! This was a funny game. Good job.

Initiation by m0zrat 2024-04-19T05:19:08Z

I summoned it and I won :D Good job!

This was absolutely on-point for the theme

Faust by HellHound 2024-04-18T20:10:13Z

I enjoyed the character swap dynamic. It was entertaining to be limited in the obstacles you could pass without support from the other character. As I got further into the game, it started to become kind of confusing as to which lever I was supposed to hit and unclear if I missed one, so I ended up stuck.

I did find the players a little small on-screen and would have preferred them a bit bigger, but that's a personal preference.

Overall it was well put together and had everything necessary for quality gameplay. Good job!

Leprechaun's Gold by Stowy 2024-04-19T17:55:45Z

This was a really innovative take on combos. I enjoyed it, and the difficulty/scope was perfect to prove the concept.

I loved the art and character design

Nice work!

Child of Ruin by Rick Williams 2024-04-18T14:37:40Z

@m0rph1y I get what you're saying- there is definitely room for additional polish. Honestly, our goal with this jam was to maximize the efficiency of such a large group, set up functional communication pathways, and not have the project implode from erratic behavior. It was a producer test and a half. We succeeded and are super happy with the end result from such a short production period :D

@justcamh Hey thanks for playing our game! The video of your play through it was insightful to watch, and you gave good feedback on your experience.

This was definitely as much of a production and coordination challenge as it was making the mechanics functional and intuitive. We've got a few Quality of Life edits and feature additions we've made to the game, but we're waiting for the actual LD voting to end before we make those public.

Thanks for your feedback and votes!

@hexy Sorry you couldn't experience the game- sometimes 3D WebGL applications cause performance issues and it's a shame. We were aiming for WebGL so the game itself would be as accessible as possible without requiring a download of a zipped .exe

@skvader-418 Thanks for playing! We've made some updates but they'll be made available later next week.

Call The Right One by MonroeLabs 2024-04-20T23:01:28Z

I couldn't solve the puzzle but I enjoyed the premise!

I tried making a star and got wrecked XD

Good work!

Arcane Arbor by Keilyn3d 2024-04-16T06:49:34Z

The graphics were great! I loved the music, but the difficulty left me more frustrated than satisfied.

This was interesting from a min-max perspective. I like how you have to calculate your returns to try to maximize how many points you can get, and how the potential score delta increases exponentially as the game progresses. It provides for a very compelling and heart-racing endgame.

I found the WASD controls kind of anxiety inducing- I don't know why exactly, but maybe because the targets were so small that you require accuracy while using a control scheme that doesn't allow for refined control of the player movement.

Overall it's a neat concept. I think with a different set of sound clips to ease the anxiety rather than promote it, plus larger colliders and/or a less 8-way (maybe follow-the-mouse?) movement this game would prove really addicting. :D

Maybe you could just halve the timescale to see if that solves the anxiety issue by giving the player more time to make adjustments.

Good job!
