LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Brain Builder by Cheshyr 2014-12-08T22:27:00

It took a bit of time to get the hang of it and to learn how everything worked together. After that, it turned out to be somewhat complex to play. The mechanics need a little work, though. I got to the point where the Brain Stem was reducing "Infinity per tick" stress. Check the numbers and balance it some more. Good job overall, though!

AZOR by Hellequin 2014-12-08T22:06:00

Awesome atmosphere going on here. The music really contributed to the 'being rushed' feeling. The level design is good but it otherwise shares many similarities with other 2d platformers. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, though.

Mobius Dungeon by nesis 2014-12-12T02:58:00

I absolutely love it. It fits the theme perfectly, the room transitions are awesome, and the game mechanics are really interesting. This could make for an amazing puzzler. It's almost hard to believe this was made in 48 hours. Great job!

Punk Enforcer by fireAndCoffee 2014-12-10T16:40:00

The sound effect on blocking a stage diver is a little harsh. The music is fun and the game is simple and easy to understand while still fitting with the theme and being fun to play. Great job!

Snake Pong Invaders by Jack31081988 2014-12-08T22:17:00

Awesome interpretation of the theme! I love the concept and the sounds really fit the game. It's fun and it's simple to play and learn. Good job!

Cramped-An Entire Platformer on one Screen by Wumbo 2014-12-08T22:36:00

Great take on the theme. Sounds were fitting. The clouds in the background moved way too fast, it was distracting. The effect of the TNT was poorly demonstrated and on the second level containing TNT I blew up the platform I was on and lost. Moving the blocks around was somewhat clunky and being forced to move the blocks all the way around the entire monitor was a little tiresome.

Awesome concept! Needs some work, though.

The Worm by xWarZonex 2014-12-08T22:09:00

I loved the humor in the game. The music and sounds were great and it was fun to play overall. I really felt like it fit the theme really well. This is how I would have interpreted "Whole game fits on one screen." No panning, no zooming, no changing levels. Good job!

BoxGuy by KristophTG 2014-12-10T16:33:00

Movement was a little bit difficult, clunky almost. The jumping didn't seem very precise and the waves spawning on top of me did get old quick. Other than that, I found the game to be fun and a nice take on the theme. The upgrades were helpful and they kept the game from getting too old too quick. Great job!

The bugged restart makes it hard to play the game properly. As Tuism said, it's also difficult to identify which block is meant to go where. It takes a few tries and if you accidentally melt the wrong block... Well, you have to refresh and try again from the start.

Overall, though, it's a good game and, despite the bugs, is well made and fits the genre well.

Beams! by DiegoMustache 2014-12-10T06:03:00

I love the level transitions. It fits the theme very nicely. The graphics and animations were not what I expected. I usually see this genre as 2D pixel art. I really like how you used the existing laser emitters in newer levels. I think it would be awesome to have a level which forces you to point the laser into a past level in order to pass.

Awesome job!

Snowball Fight by JonnyGinger 2014-12-10T05:46:00

I managed to crash it by spamming too many snowballs, haha. I do like how you made it so you must be facing where you want to throw snowballs. That adds a bit more to it than just spamming snowballs all over the place.

It's fun to play, as far as stationary defense games go. It would be more fun to have more elements such as upgrades, more enemy units, etc. If there were more units I didn't see them as I only made it to wave 6 before crashing.

Good job overall! This is great.

GameJam Tychoon by davesoft 2014-12-08T22:44:00

The music was a little difficult to listen to constantly. It took a few minutes before I understood what I was doing and by then I was in "UI Polish" phase with 30 hours left in the dare! The game fit the theme really well and I liked your take on it. It was funny to play, as well!

Good job!

Boxes by ijwu 2014-12-10T05:11:00

Sorry, everyone! I did forget to mention that both mouse buttons are valid and each work fine! It's definitely a lot easier with each. I'll update the description.

Take a look in the readme if nothing happens when you run it. It's likely because you don't have the XNA Framework or .NET 4.0 installed. I bundled an installer in the ZIP for XNA which you can run if all else fails.

Smash the Rebels! by michel94 2014-12-13T23:25:00

Awesome play on the concept. It's definitely a lot more stressful to play than I thought it would be. Th one gripe I have with it is that I can also damage my own farms by clicking them.

Otherwise, it's a really great concept and a fun game. Great job!

RIZUMUDEKATTO by EquipeJAM 2014-12-10T05:54:00

Great idea! I do wish the difficulty went up as I played. It did take me a few tries to figure out how to play. I wouldn't call this a rhythm game as not many elements follow the rhythm. It's just the flashing button icon which flashes to the drumbeat. Not much else there in the way of rhythm.

Infinifall by Bloxri 2014-12-10T06:38:00

The hard to see spikes really took away from being able to play the game comfortably. I had to bring my face up to the screen in order to even play properly. Some more warning about certain obstacles and objects would definitely improve the experience. What is that cracked stone? It hurt me at one point but didn't at another. Stuff like that could use more clarification.

Awesome job, overall!
