LD46 — Keep it alive

Paper Disco by Moskoman 2020-04-22T22:33:48Z

I like how you conveyed some personality in the enemies with their AI (one always goes for the plant and the other just want to punch you). My only gripe with the game is that the stun duration is too long, once you are hit the level is basically over, since the enemies will destroy the plant before you can move again. Anyway, great presentation!

The concept is nice but i think it would be more interesting if the fuel canisters weren't obligatory to finish the level, it's kinda frustrating to think that you found a shortcut to the end of the level and the end goal isn't there because you didn't pick up all the canisters. Also the ship could keep a bit of momentum after running out of fuel to give more of a chance to reach the next canister or the end goal.

Perish alive by Lyrcaxis 2020-04-25T13:56:37Z

The graphics and music are great! I just think there are some much needed improvements on the gameplay side: - The tutorial hints could explain more the mechanics of the game; - Actions like "Heal" and "Shoot" could trigger automatically when charged; - The waves of enemies could be better telegraphed, and there should be more time between them, so you could use the time to farm resources and upgrade for the next wave; - The upgrades buttons could show which ones can be bought without having to hover them; - Also, there is no way to restart the game by itself.

I like the concept of keeping the bird alive but i think that it would be more interesting if the game didn't end when the bird dies, and showed the player how much more difficult mining becomes without it. Also, holding the button to keep mining would be an welcome feature.

Star Saver by Zfert 2020-04-25T14:05:48Z

The graphics are very nice, but the game doesn't have a clear objective. I think it would benefit a lot if there was a penalty for letting the stars fall through or if there was a time limit for collecting the stars. Also, the spaceship speed is too slow.

To Thine Own Heart Feed Blood by civilianzero 2020-04-22T21:58:45Z

Loved the aesthetic of the game, especially the soundscape. I think that it would be a good idea if the heartbeat could also be used to guide the player back to the basement. Also some of the collision tiles aren't clear visually. Great entry!

I like the concept of the game but some aspects of the execution could also be improved: - The physics are a bit jittery and sometimes the characters get stuck to walls; - Although i like the gameboy aesthetic, it's not instantly clear what the sprites represent, like who are the healthy/infected people, and at first when i saw the "feces"i just thought it was a weirdly shaped block, since it is immovable, until i noticed people getting infected when touching it; - Also i think you should keep track of how much people you kept alive on each stage. Since there isn't a scoring system, in the game the main objective becomes just reaching the end of the level, and that is pretty easy when you keep just one of the healthy people protected.

Anyway nice work!
