LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Schadenfreude (ex. Cassandra Complex) by Sol Roo 2018-12-06T21:40:28Z

This was a sad story. T^T The feeling of the controller really reminded me of those wooden mannequin toy holding together thanks to some strings. It moved depending on how you pulled or released the string on they foot. I really didn't expected that from any video game. Also, I saw some red "instrument" (not sure what it was) in the second "level?" of the game. I tried to reach it expecting something but nothing happened when I did... The mood was really coherent however!

Good Job!

The game is really pleasing to play. It's quite frustrating to re-start from the beginning when you fail, but I guess you needed it so you could change your "spending strategy". I only understood the mechanic of saving shuriken the second run. I didn't see anything indicating "this is how much shurikens you gonna get back when you compleat this level" (might be always the same, I dunno). Overall I really like the base mechanic, it's simple and efficient. However I can't feel any other way than believing the "sacrifice" aspect of the game only add an unnecessary weight to the gameplay. Ho! I just realized that avoiding targets did felt quite unintuitive... I believe a full fetched game only using the shuriken throwing, balloon popping and "target or whatever" avoiding would do very well on the store. Good Job!

@hav24, Thank you very much for the very nice comment. We are planning to add more enemy variety! That is once we finalize fixing ergonomically unclear mechanics and input ambiguity for mouse and keyboard users ;)

@skettynmeebs, Thank you sincerely for the comment! Yeah, no one who didn't read the game description understood that M4(H|N3 G0d_Z statues were nerfing you. Their best guess was that it was a buff. That's on us so we are trying to make up to it by making that interaction much more explicit.

@cincerteri, Hi! Verry glad to hear that! Our graphist chose to go for a very modular art-style. This was key for myself and others in the team to build upon his art. Thanks to that we were able to add a lot of GFX for more drama and affordance. You did play using mouse and keyboard right? You're definitely not the only one who feel the inputs ar ambiguous. I'm gonna have the mele attack follow the same orientation space as the shooting. Hopefully the feeling will be better.

@captainnic0, I bet it was hard! So you know, Windows copies using AZERTY keyboard layout have a shortcut to swap to QWERTY layout by pressing SHIFT+ALT. This might help you with most QWERTY games. If this doesn't work for you, you might be glad to hear that most Unity3D engine based games comes, by default, with a launcher. The Unity3D launcher possesses an input menu where you can edit inputs to your liking. I'm very glad that you played our game and thankfully liked it despite the controller issues. Than you very much.
