the power glove saving the video game universe is a good joke. the shooter works, but the grey placeholder panels make it feel unfinished and theres no glove in the playfield yet, even a glove sprite for the ship would sell it

A classical reimagining of Invaders is always going to be fun. Enjoyed the upgrades and surprise bouncing ball. Hadn't noticed it was an ally until I saw the upgrade :)

That was a fun mashup of a couple of retro arcade games. Had a lot of fun with it - there's some weird UI behaviour in the upgrades screen but nothing to stop me from having a good time. Bonus points for no AI :)

Nice game, I liked the music, gameplay was fun. I found out that you can fly really close to the enemy and just start spamming attack, you can pass every level that way pretty easily. Good job

ilari 2026-10-20 19:14 ♥ 1

Yes! Simple but effective, had fun playing this. And the boss... lol πŸ˜†

fifut 2026-10-20 19:18 ♥ 1

It was a good idea to combine Space Invaders with Arkanoid πŸ‘

the3rdhunter 2026-10-20 19:49 ♥ 0

@gevernus - I ran out of time with the art. I decided to go with the "make them Nintendo grey, and call it a day" approach. πŸ˜†

@strong99 - Thanks for playing! I though that people might not understand what the ball function was at first and mistake it for an enemy/obstacle. I had plans to add more story and instructional content to help make up for that, but the deadline got there before I could add that in.

@adam-gould - Glad you had fun! Yeah, the UI in the shop menu definitely needs another pass to work out some bugs. I like to hold off those kinds of fixes until after rating so my submission truly reflects what I got done over the 48 hours. Happy to hear it didn't stop you from enjoying the game!

@beareye - Nice strategy! I'll have to consider limiting the area the player can move around in to try to mitigate that...

@ilari - Thanks for playing! And I'm glad you liked the boss. I had the idea for it really late in the process. It was the last thing I added into the game, just squeaking it in before the deadline, but I'm glad I managed to sneak it in cause I think it's hilarious too.

@fifut - Thank you! I'm pretty happy with the result. I think what I have is kinda interesting, but it definitely needs some more iteration to get feeling really good. In hindsight, adding the whole rogue-like loop was time that probably could have been better spent iterating on the gameplay and adding more polish to the art, but I'm always a little too ambitious with my jam games.

I love this game now. Great concept and implementation. I'd like to see more randomness and abilities that interact with each other

rekk1d 2026-10-21 04:53 ♥ 1

Awesome game, really fun arkanoid, I enjoyed playing it a lot! Found one bug though, if you stay on a level for a long time the music ends and doesn’t start again. Anyway great work!

cupofcuppuccino 2026-10-21 17:13 ♥ 1

Cool game! Music is really nice, and great job without AI hahaha. I often mix the decoration animcation with the bullets and got life deducted, but it is nice to play a bit with arcade games. Fun to play, and I enjoyed the randomness (which take really long to build from what I know, so great job!)

the3rdhunter 2026-10-21 21:17 ♥ 1

@ya7on - Thanks for playing! I agree that more interaction between the abilities would help the game. That was one of my goals, but I just ran out of time. That's definitely on my list of post-jam improvements.

@rekk1d - Thanks for flagging that audio bug! The audio in general didn't get to the level of polish I wanted. Some sound effects would really help, and also not forgetting to loop the music.

@cupofcuppuccino - I really had to rush the artwork, and it definitely needs some iteration. Being able to clearly distinguish what's dangerous and what isn't is really important to a bullet hell, so I really should have invested the time to get that right! I'm glad you enjoyed it regardless!

This was a simple but fun game. As another mentioned I didn't realize the ball was my friend at first and just ignored it until I got an upgrade that made me realize it was important. Before that I was a little frustrated at how long it took to kill the enemies, but the ball made it a lot more balanced. I enjoyed the music but I didn't feel like it really fit with the theme of the game. Great work overall, thanks for sharing.

dimini-inc 2026-10-22 08:58 ♥ 3

Quite a fun game. It even has a True Pacifist Route, heh lol.png

freamdev 2026-10-22 09:35 ♥ 1

I always enjoy genre/game mashups so breakout invader is a very good start. Implementation was pretty good some extra UI work and really wish the glove had some more leaway with the ball collision would been great, sometimes it felt like I just missed it by a pixel. Otherwise a nice entry!

I enjoyed this one and could easily sink a lot of time into it! The upgrade screen was a little unclear to me at times, especially when the same upgrade appeared twice, though I may have missed something.

silkworm-sweatshop 2026-10-22 18:00 ♥ 1

Pretty fun! Not sure if I missed something about weapon upgrades. I bought the bouncy spreadshot but kept shooting the same singular bullet. Also got another weapon slot but not sure what that did either. Visual feedback is good with particles and flashing but it could really use some sound effects as well. Music is fun though, even though it doesn't loop.

I love the power glove... it's so bad!

This game... is not bad! Juggling between Space Invaders and Arkanoid was a cool idea, and the power up shop was a great addition. Being right-handed, I would've appreciated arrow keys as an alternate control scheme. I didn't love the wave shot overriding my cool three way shot. I expected my three way shot to get wavy. I had a fun time! Atari 2600s destroyed: 1

duudel 2026-10-22 19:53 ♥ 1

Good job! The game was quite easy, but also one rare game entry I got to play through :D

The enemies could maybe move laterally a bit (more) to increase difficulty.

the3rdhunter 2026-10-23 14:32 ♥ 0

@bentglasstube - I don't disagree with you. I had a hard time coming up with an idea for the game this jam, and so on the Friday evening, when I was stuck for what to work on, I started making the music without knowing what the game would be. Then once I did figure out what the game was gonna be, I didn't have time to update it to something more appropriate. And that's how you end up with music that doesn't really fit the vibe of the rest of the game.

@dimini-inc - Lol! I love it when games have pacifist routes. I definitely didn't plan for it, but you found one!

@freamdev - Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the game! You're 100% right that the UI and collisions need some iteration. As I find I do with most game jams, I was too ambitious with my design and didn't leave myself enough time for testing and iterating, hence why the UI and the collisions are very "first draft". Some more forgiveness on the hit detection with the ball would really improve the game feel.

@silkworm-sweatshop - It's probably me that missed something with the weapon upgrades! What "should" happen is that new weapons you purchase should replace your current one. And as you buy more weapon slots, they should be filled by the weapons that you've purchased. The weapons are actually stored as a list and I attach them in reverse order they were purchased, filling as many weapon slots as you have unlocked. But that's all what "should" happen. What actually happens likely has a few bugs in it and that's probably what happened in your case. I also agree that more feedback, especially audio effects are needed. It was on the list of to-dos that never got to-done in time.

@flyingbear - Thanks for the feedback! I have a basic "jam game" template that I start my LD projects from, and I'm definitely going to add that to it. It's such a basic quality of life thing that will always be needed.

@duudel - I'm glad you got through it! As someone who usually makes their jam games WAY too difficult, it's actually kind of nice to hear I'm on the other side of the fence this time. Hopefully next jam I'll nail that perfect balance right down the middle! Enemy movement was a goal that I ended up not reaching. It came down to either: implementing the different shot types or having enemies move. Since the shot types work for both the player and the enemies, I decided to spend the time there. But I agree it would be more interesting and challenging if the enemies had movement. Goals for the update!

best game in this jam so far! (longest play for me). i guess only thing missing would be small temporary bonus drops?
