Unfortunately I can't read and stumbled upon every bug you've mentioned on itch page. But there's a thing or two I can add:
Sometimes, I don't understand, why I can or cannot do some things in the level. For example, game allows me to try to go to map edge and leave - but then it says "you can't do that". I have an opportunity to beat that slime, but mc says "let's not do that" (and the slime doesn't want to attack me in return)
I think the game can become a lot more fun and interesting if that small things will be taken into account. For example, level layout is built in such a way that there are no slimes yet, or exit path is blocked, or smth else (hope you get the idea). Take everything here with a grain of salt of course, as I don't play JRPGs very often
Anyway, despite you used standart assets, there still was done pretty huge job (making of rpgs or strategies on a game jam scares me a lot ☠️)
Thanks for your game, keep it up (and try keeping scope on jams *small*, making the most fun out of the idea, rather than risking all the game on something very big)
@uniowl Thanks. The spot that says you cannot go that way is likely the path Henrietta walked away on. The purpose of the message is to acknowledge yes, that is a road leaving the map, it's just not a place you can go. In my experience JRPGs often try to tell the player that. The slime battle is supposed to start if you interact with it after you find all 4 pieces of wood and save Vera. (Click the spot at the base of the cliff below her.)
I really had thought the short linear plot of rescuing 3 kids with simple collecting tasks was a small enough scope. Unfortunately, I did not get the idea until nearly 24 hours into the jam and ended up with some IRL stuff slowing me down. I did debate submitting to the Extra section instead so I could finish it better, but decided I really wanted to submit to the jam even if that meant having to cut the game short.

I read the bottom on the itch page and got through the game easily. I smiled a lot, the humor fitted nicely. It was a collect the kids/items kind of game and definitely reminded me of the fact that looking one second away- and they are gone  The thing that made the game original for me is the story you used, the game mechanics [and then we assume the finished version] were for me standard. I think it would have gotten more its own character with its own art but tbf its a shooort amount of time you have, especially with real life and alike getting inbetween.
It looks very nice. I collected 4 wood then fought the frog.
@lizz Glad you enjoyed what I was able to finish. Thanks for taking the time to read the description/pitfall warnings. I made a conscious decision to focus on story and humor over unique or challenging gameplay in order have a completed game within the timeframe. Wish I had been able to actually finish, but am still really glad I managed to get a fun, mostly working game submitted.
It's cool to try to make an RPG for game jam! I finished all the story and it is really interesting! I believe it will be a good game, hope you can finish it later :)
@anima-animus049 Thanks :smiley:

A really nice game, u should continue to develop it
Wow, the game looks great.
Cool little slice for a jam. I, like the other commentor, did not read the "Don't do this" section and did... many of them before noticing that section.
I didn't even know you could do web builds of rpgmaker games. Certainly has a lot of the standard assets/setup, but there's clearly a lot of work put in too.
It would be cool to see this expanded outside of the jam, expanding upon the idea a bit more and working out the bugs would really drive it home I think.
Nice work!
@fireslash Thanks for your feedback. I have been working on fixing the bugs and setting up the ending. Gonna be a basic 5-10 min game and should be ready after the voting is done.
RPG Maker has been finding its way onto the web for a while now. The two most recent versions of RPG Maker, MV and MZ, both were designed to be played in web and mobile as well as PCs. And while there is no built in way to export RPGM 2000 and 2003 games to web, there's a free fan made program called EasyRPG that allows devs to export browser compatible versions, though I have not gotten to try it myself.

Hm, I collected 8 strings total, but Harold didn't want to make the rope :( otherwise nice little rpg
@7uc4s Sorry about that. There's an error where if you accidently fight the minator along with the three bats, you get an extra bat battle and more than 6 string and the rope event only triggers when you have exactly 6 string. I've fixed that for the version I'm uploading after the jam

Cool game for that timeframe! Not my usual genre, but I still had fun! The "the tutorial only took two seconds" joke was really good, as a parent I can relate to that 😭
