@zhang It's solved!
I like the game a lot, however, I think there are some things that could be changed, such as the respawning logic, it was really frustrating to fall all the way down to third(?(I really can't remember which level but it was the last one on the ground)) level and have to start back from there. I still liked the game and especially the sound effects.
Yes, it's Silksong, it's out, hooray!!!!
Great reference to *Hollow Knight* and stunning pixel art at the end, but otherwise, it's hard to call this a game.
fun platform game
jump is a little floaty, but loved the audio and art especially the final image
Decent platformer. The background pixel art was great. I appreciated not losing progress when missing a jump. I had a slight issue with the window size cutting off the edges on my 16:10 monitor.
short and entertaining platform game. a bit frustrating when you fall down a screen and die, and respawn in an earlier section, but that's my own fault
The controls are sweet (I like the fact you can hold spacebar to go higher) but the mechanics feel a little bit underexplored.
Hey, good job finishing working game for a jam. I'm not gonna lie, it definitely is a very basic bare-bones platformer, but it's the process and actually finishing something that matters. My biggest suggestion is that the controls feel really "floaty". Try pressing left or right button super quickly and see when the character stops moving, it kinda keeps moving for like 0.5 - 1 second. It's not so ideal in my opinion for precision platformer. For horizontal movement you have two possible solutions: tweaking friction parameter for velocity-based movement, or changing to non-velocity-based movement (character keeps no momentum between frames). Imho the second approach is easier and usually better if you're not trying to apply external forces to the character and that's what I'd recommend.
Basic but fun well done!
Cute little platformer, beat it with only 1 death (because I didnt know what Shift did and dashed right into my doom lol). I also agree with what other people said, the jump feels a little bit floaty, but if you intended this because of flavor (if the little bug has wings) you could visualize that more by making him flutter so it feels more "natural" (i guess?). I also agree with the above comments that the character should not slide as much once you let go of a direction when grounded, i just doesnt fit "precision" platformers (precision in quotation marks since its not toooo precise, but i definitly goes in that direction, since its only platforming and spikes). I still liked the little challenge and the level design was decent. also, i liked the artworks.
Short but cute little platformer! Definitely would deserve some more polish (puffs of smoke when landing, more sound, etc...) but it's ok for such a short timeframe!
Checkpoints aren't seen very often in the jam games, thank you for this feature, makes the game much less frustrating :) obviously wish it was longer and had more advanced mechanics, but still had some fun when playing it.
funny but short
