I didn't get far in my bug findings.. (thanks RNG!) The game is aesthetically pleasing, you did a good job. I wish the randomness was more forgiving and let me find somebody who matched. And jam-wise it would give more players the chance to see the whole game you have poured your weekend into.
I would've forced the tutorial in this game. Because I went in without it and soon enough I was out of hearts.
As a stretch goal, it would have been nice to be able to choose your own details.
Good job.
I appreciate the unique and creative premium of your game. The idea of dating bugs in the context of Ludum Dare is certainly a fresh take. However, I found the game's mechanics to be a bit challenging and the RNG to be a bit unforgiving.
I agree with CodeRaurus that a more forgiving RNG system would allow players to explore more of the game and increase the chances of finding a match. Additionally, a forced tutorial would have been helpful in guiding new players through the game's mechanics.
As a stretch goal, the ability to customize your character's details would have added a layer of personalization and replayability.
Overall, the game is aesthetically pleasing, and the concept is intriguing. With some refinements to the gameplay and mechanics, it could become even more enjoyable.
I liked the grapichs and the music. The 10 second timer was a bit too fast for my liking.
Idk how you came up with dating bugs, but im here for it.
This is unusual. and i think that unusual games is that what we need) And why everyone kill bugs in their games. we can just love them!
I love that you can play this one handed. The art is so seductive.asdf.PNG
I read "what you have in common" or sth. and then saw my height and the bug's height. That made me chuckle and I think that's huge for a video game. Top humour marks. The Timer is a bit much, I would have liked more time. At least, in the beginning. A fresh and interesting game mechanic. And the date reminds me of classic point and click adventure puzzles, very well done!
Aww I love the little bug designs, cute and charming! The timer makes this very intense, you gotta find love like **RIGHT NOW**! It was a little tricky getting a partner at first because I was spending a little long comprehending all of the stats.
The dating reminded me of like, those Sims games on the GBA? In a similar vein, you have to pick an interaction and depending on who it is, that interaction has potential to go well or not. It gives every single bug an individual personality that you have to take note of and with how much can be generated and to what, there's an impressive amount of depth in there. I wish there were more responses from the dates to the various topics and that's really the one big thing I noted about Love Bugz. Even beyond being made in 48 hours, I think what's there is very interesting, definitely one of the more original games I've seen on the site and one that stuck in my mind (revisited twice).
liked the way you interpreted the theme. wish there was more strategy than what there is currently, since you can just reject a bunch of them before the dating sequence. loved the design for the bugs though, nailed with the presentation
Wow! The game is so wonderful!
