Really liked the game! Hope you make lots more in the future!

I actually has a similar idea I wanted to do a while ago! I enjoyed game feel and polish a lot. It took a while for me to realize I need to open my inventory to equip spells, so maybe could use hints/tutorial for that? Also the fact you need to aim the spell directly at the enemy made the combat very hard for me. Impressive amount of content for a jam game though! I can see how it can be expended with more clever spell combinations.

The look of the game is as if for steam)

Really impressive entry!! Quite difficult but I love the concept and the overall style, it deserves to be its own standalone game

Took a little getting used to, but I enjoy the core premise of this game! It was fun looking around and finding new things to cast with. I also learned that you can light yourself on fire! I may or may not have committed sudoku!

I liked this game a lot, it's a little obtuse starting off but when you get going it's good fun, especially the fire and arrow combo, which i accidentally killed myself with a number of times. Are the minions meant to be stationary? i summoned a couple and they didn't do much but stand around.

mr-field 2024-04-17 23:02

@shugor thanks very much! unfortunately it sounds like you got a bug there; the AI is pretty dumb, but the minions are supposed to do a little more than that.๐Ÿ‘€

Awesome game and really well polished!!

matterlinx 2024-04-18 02:18

I really enjoyed the game's feel and polish; it's impressive for a jam game! The combat was challenging, needing direct spell aim. Perhaps add a tutorial hint for equipping spells from the inventory. Exploring more spell combinations could expand the game nicely. Keep refining it!

Great game thanks for making it hehe

Great art!! Congratss!!

The polish in the visuals of this game is really good! It was fun too, the friendly fire nature of the attacks led to some funny deaths on my part. Well done!

Wow, that was really impressive! I had no idea what was going on at first, I missed that you had to press Tab to open your inventory. Wish that was conveyed in the game. But once I figured it out, I had a ton of fun. The gameplay felt incredibly polished - great job!

nanaschi1984 2024-04-19 14:37

Once you figure out that Tab controls spelling you will start getting fun. Good job!

footlettuce 2024-04-19 15:02

Please make this a full release on Steam! For a game jam, the polish and spell combinations on this are insane! Both the most creative and fun game I have played thus far this Ludum Dare - like being able to shoot fire arrows, or scan the wall itself as a quick cheap way to unlock the rock spell. Would be cool for the minions you summon to fuse together into new variants, but that's just my preference.

I made it super far in... until my unwavering Goblin line was breached and in a mad panic, **I detonated myself in a semi-nuclear explosion. 10/10**

Really great looking game, I love the style. I had some difficulties figuring out how to equip spells but after some time I got the hang of it and the different spells felt good to use. Well done!

mr-field 2024-04-20 03:19

@footlettuce thanks very much! it sounds like you had the exact type of experience we were hoping for - i'm very glad you enjoyed it; and went out on your own terms. ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿงจ

Consider launching this on Steam; the polish and spell creativity are top-notch. Fantastic work!

yasgal 2024-04-22 10:02

Hard to understand at first, but once you get past it, it's fun, I just find that the shadow zone levels are very, very punishing, by lighting yourself using the torch spell, you can get burned if ever there is a wall next to us that we cannot see precisely because of the shadowy areas.

But otherwise really nice game!

ice9 2024-04-22 12:26

Has a lot of potential fun, but was also a bit frustrating. Took me a while to understand how things work (knowing that scanning "picks things up", except for the health potion) and I still didn't end up understanding what some things did (I upgraded to have a second spell, but couldn't see how to equip something to it). The self-damage also messed me up quite a bit. Music and visuals were great.

mr-field 2024-04-22 14:59

@ice9 appreciate the feedback, the spell list rotates with the mousewheel, but i agree, i think it'd be 10x better if they all were on-screen side-by-side & editable when you're in your inventory instead, there's definitely a good bit of onboarding & QoL that the game needs.

sweetwizzle 2024-04-28 23:53

The game looks and sounds beautiful, but it took me *forever* to get the hang of what was happening and what to do. A little user manual on the game page would've saved a lot of folks some headache! Equipping spells isn't exactly intuitive, either, and I wish there was a quick retry option upon death. But once I got into it, the game was a blast to play -- this might be a game I come back to after the jam too. It feels good to play and the atmosphere is on point. Excellent work!
