Amazing!! I had a great time playing this game, very creative & very fun!

morgie 2023-10-04 04:44

@waded Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed. :D

What a really interesting and novel concept for a game--not to mention stylishly done! I feel like this is what it feels like to have ADHD--I was flitting from one card to the next trying desperately to juggle what mattered and what didn't... glorious chaos. 5/5, would fail to prioritize my life again

spooncats 2023-10-04 05:14

Cool idea! a lot of funny lines :) Wish deleting memories was its own dedicated button instead (right click?) since it sometimes was hard to click on a memory and not start dragging it

mehul 2023-10-04 05:19

The frantic deletion of memories combined with the great writing and genuine interest I had in reading everything before deleting it made for some very close calls in my playthrough.

The presention was also slick and papers please-eque and I absolutely adore that.

braiizen 2023-10-04 05:20

Amazing game! Fits well with the theme, the tempo of the game was just right.

heytherewill 2023-10-04 05:20

Solid little entry! Loved the humor bits and the art (great job, Morgie!). It sucks not to have constructive feedback to give to you people, but this game was super solid so all I can do is praise!

morgie 2023-10-04 05:27

@mehul that really means a lot  We spent a lot of times on the cards to make the game feel more fun than JUST managing life. Because we already do that.

morgie 2023-10-04 05:29

@heytherewill MY HEEEAARTT :sob: Thank you so much for the love <33

morgie 2023-10-04 05:31

@braiizen Seriously thank you for playing and the feedback <3

morgie 2023-10-04 05:32

@breadstick i DO have ADHD and you are absolutely right LOL. Thank you so so much for playing :3

morgie 2023-10-04 05:36

@spooncats Thank you for playing! :D Also yes, the feedback on delete I have gotten from friends, and it makes sense why.

I enjoyed the concept and the flavor text. :D Although there is no convenient pause to read the entire text, so I ended up losing the game. When I see a text, I want to read all of it. xD How else would I get to know a Naruto-Sasake guy (which is definitely not a dated name btw)??!

I would like to have a casual difficulty where the timer is higher, like 3->5 seconds maybe? It would make the game much more enjoyable for me, as I like the concept of reading random stuff and selecting something that I feel like fitting the next event, etc. This mechanic alone is enough for me, but the hard time limits give me pressure and tension overburst. :)

Another downside of this: it would be almost impossible to stream this game. The streamer would not be able to read aloud everything, while the viewers wouldn't make it in time either. So it will be a chaotic experience where no interactions are possible. Take the "monster loves you!" game. The game gives the player time to choose an option, so the viewers can vote for stuff. A casual mode with a space-key pause (that would not obstruct the view) could make it possible.

Perhaps I'm just not the right player for this game. I'm really bad at timing stuff and making fast decisions. :'(

Maybe instead of clicking a small "close" popup we could delete a memory with a right click (or a short left click). Less actions for that would reduce the chore feeling. But maybe it's just me.

Now, to the things I adored: * The writing! One of the best entries on this jam in this regard * I'll include the humor as a separate thing (you can't stop me) :D * The artstyle is so cute omg, you even have a small pic with a development team! * The in-game UIs are stylish, the colors are great * The music & overall sound design is good too * The game gives you some direction: the schedule is a cool idea

Also, I'm not even sure how to categorize this. It reminds me a bit about the games like Telling Lies and Her Story (these are my associations lol). In My Memory, you read the text and try to interpret it. Because you need to understand the effects it might have if you "save" it. It's understandable that for a jam the mechanics are quite limited, but I can see this game getting finished into something bigger, where intricate connections between the memories can take place. I have no idea how this game would play out though. :D

All in all, it's a solid jam entry. Well done!

Last but not the least, thank you @morgie for playing my game. :3

Absolutely loved this. SO stylish, and such a cool execution of a really original idea. I can't wait to see what you continue to make!

teaskyd 2023-10-04 21:29

The concept is so fresh, it's kind like a mirror for yourself to review your own altitude of memory

johnsensei 2023-10-04 22:59

Great audio and artwork. I think this is a really interesting concept. I think it would have benefited either from levels that got more progressively difficult or a slower time on the clock. But great job overall!

margoovian 2023-10-05 08:30

Very cool concept, i love how fast paced the game is and how quickly you can get overwhelmed. It plays well into the story line and concept of memory - how fast they come in. The art was awesome, the story reminded me of the movie where dead people get uploaded into a computer and get to live out their lives based on how much bandwidth they have (based on money) - which is similar to the concept of memory being a commodity. Well done and hope you have future hits like this!

greenpig 2023-10-05 08:39

I've never played with anything like this before. The concept is truly innovative and the art is amazing. It was a bit hard to keep up the reading with the timer, but I managed to get to the 6th day before running out of space. Great work!

nadia-pixel 2023-10-05 14:20

This is amazing game! It was so intense and interesting! I liked how you imagined this head-computer space and how simple yet detailed it looks. Good job!

gameraccoon 2023-10-05 18:59

(I wish I could purchase more memory in real life)

Really cool game, I like all the humor  The game interactions are very solid. The game felt very dynamic, I like the cards with tricky text that you delete and then "Oh no wait I needed that" I imagine it was a lot of work to make all the cards.

One thing I would improve is to give some time to read the outcomes of events, maybe make a pause or give a popup, not sure what would work well.

little-doctor-games 2023-10-06 15:23

This is a fantastic game!! The player character is adorable and the pixel art is excellent. After a few failed attempts I finally figured out what I was doing (even though I still didn't complete it XD) Def gonna start wearing toe rings ;)

ecmjohnson 2023-10-10 23:46

Great idea for the theme! I really enjoyed my time playing and it was curious to see how strong a character the inner monologue of thoughts creates. I found the act skimming and digesting each thought to decide if it had long term value in 3 seconds very addictive!
