Simple but fun!
pretty simple but i enjoyed the concept allot
I like the art style :)
Simple and fun game! Even though the art and mechanics are simple, it has nice depth with the large levels, liked it!
liked the progression and exploration aspects, some areas were really difficult to get into though with the locked orientation
I like the implementation of the audio it gives the retro vibe and am I the only one that sees the character is looking like "amogus" :D
This is really good! I think it would be good if the submarine turned up or down. The game was fun, and I liked the sound effects!
Like the art and the setting, controls were a little rigid though, not sure if I was not supposed to be able to rotate my ship at all, seemed to be some spots impossible to reach as a horizontal ship. Some of the systems were good, AI and tracking position was good for memorizing paths and making a run for it. Overall very good game jam, congrats.
Cool game! I got stuck near the end as there were areas I didn't fit into and couldn't shoot to make myself shoot into. Art was simple but had a consistent aesthetic that I appreciate!
Thank you for the warm feedback.
A couple of spoilers: Places where you can't get through - are puzzles, you have to get there in a different way (shoot through a thin tunnel or get a second gun). In the first part (without weapons) there are two secrets for extra lives. When you complete the delivery, you restore maximum lives.
Simple but competent game.
Some areas seemed unfair as our submarine's width is a bit large, making difficult to dodge the obstacles sometimes.
I liked the music and the graphics style. Add some animations would make it even better.
Overall, a good job!
Sometimes hitbox felt like its a bit off... so many hits were taken when it looked like its fine by me, but overal nice audio, cute aestetics. HIDDEN WALL WITH HEARTS?! That one was unexpected one for sure! Good positions of checkpoints too. Apreciated those :)
@batisdark thanks. Hitboxes are honest, but it also seems to me that I can reduce them to make it more pleasant to play.
I played your game, and I really enjoyed the adventure. I appreciate the level of effort and creativity that went into the game, and I think you did a great job overall.
The shape of the sub gives some interesting challenges. Thanks for the game! Simple but fun.
Nice art style, great graphics and also challenging gameplay. I had some trouble to estimate the bounding box of the boat. Overall a nice entry to the LD!
I like the mechanics and design of this game, and how it shows you all things you can interact with at the very start by placing them in your path (don't think I didn't notice ), the game is a bit difficult but it makes up for it with checkpoints something I should've had in my challenging game . I wish the enemy fish had a drawn path or a way to tell where they're going so it doesn't feel unfair, but other than that I think the game is really nice, good job!
This is a cleverly disguised puzzle game! I quite enjoyed figuring out how to shoot through the little crack.
A few small criticisms would be, the ability to turn the orientation of the ship in place would have been nice, and some more complex AI for a few types of sea creatures, even one that just pathfinds in a straight line to the player, would have added some more challenge and *depth* to the game (pun intended ). Additionally, the graphics were pretty simplistic. Even some hue variation in the cave stones would have gone a long way.
The audio was fun and really fit the mood. Level design was done well, and the checkpoint system complemented it nicely!
Overall, great entry!
Fun game! I played all the way through to the end, and found the difficulty and length to be just right.
The checkpoints were REALLY important, they let me avoid repeating large stretches of the game, but the way you can't re-use your last one also created a few tense moments of being very careful not to die!
I also enjoyed some of the puzzles that you first encounter in a way you can't pass them. "Lock before Key" is a common idea, but I especially liked the approach used here where it was ambiguous whether it was a lock or a dexterity test. For example I am thinking of the section after the fist major gun-gate where you go up and then there's a long vertical tunnel with falling rocks that MAYYYYBE you could dodge your way through, especially with the i-frames of your first hit, so.... I tried a few times, backed off and figured I'd find another way around. Sure enough, I did, and then after I got through that part, I found myself looping back around through that same vert corridor except now I was going downward so I could get through safely (one way trip tho). Total Metroid echoes with that kind of smart level design that sets me up for an experience, very well done.
Controls initially felt stiff and 3 seconds into the game I though, "wow this movement is not selling me on being underwater at all." But very quickly I realized the game HAS TO be like that, and I got into the world of what it was and didn't mind the stiff yet precisely controllable movement.
Art was charming and clear, an the music was a nice presence.
Well done.
@pkenney @technoporg @0x-void-x0 Thank you for your detailed feedback!
This was really cool. Checkpoints were a great mechanic. Nice job!
