I really really wished we had 1 more day , we would've managed to make it a bit more complete and the world more populated with various objects..

Still! First Game jam and doing everything from scratch was an awesome experience! and first time also doing Pixel art at all <3 :v: Dan

Really nice style! But I can't figure out what to do other than walk around. How do I use all the items that are laying around?

I really like the concept of 'harvest' meaning like looting items from a city, and it's cool how much of a map you were able to create! Unfortunately, it's not super clear what to do and it'd be nice if there was some sound. For a first game jam and first time doing pixel art, this is amazing! excited to see what you do next time :D

For a first gamejam this was an AWESOME entry!! Had to try a few times before figuring out objectives (where to interact and why) but after getting it the risk vs reward mechanics really kicked in. A few more house layouts and this would have been a VERY strong submission. Had my fun, loved the idea, congrats!!!

Wow for the first game this is Amazing! But like the AidanBacon said its really confusing what to do and What the Goal is.

the game and visual has so much potential, you did your best and execute well. enjoy looting around the houses but only explored three houses. felt like house quite big to go around and loot. but overall the game was fun to harvest materials, felt like Dayz game but in pixel format.

Awesome stuff, especially for the first game. The controls are easy and running around is fun. It's a shame we didn't get to listen to the sounds you've created but hopefully you can manage it in time next time. Here's what I would improve: - Add interaction cues so that it is easier to understand what is interactable ([Press E to exit hide-out], [Press E to charge battery], [E to pick-up] - you get the point). - I missed out on the evil AI roaming the city, it would be cool to get to run away/hide from them. That might require additional options to change a filter to win back the lost time running around from said AI.

Overall, fun, little game. Good luck!

Wow! Thanks everybody for the nice words and suggestions

..and sorry to all, that struggled with the controls, but we literally didnt managed the controls in the menu anymore in time :( (needs better planning next Ludum Dare!)

Cheers! Dan

Cool idea, love the setting! Sounds would defo help, shame they didn't make it. Pixel style is nice as well, think maybe making clearer which item you need to hold down in and what you'll loot would make understanding the game easier also.

When an open world feels very open - that's my jam!

A bit more livelyhood to the world and it'd be a super cool experience, this way the town felt more creepy and apocalyptic than anything else, but that's most likely the feel you went for. Cool base, and good to find abandonded stuff!

Had to try two times as I didn't understand that even just going out the door counted as an attempt even if I immediately ran back in.

Sweet game overall!

Lack of music was unfortunate, that would have helped the atmosphere greatly as there were no dialogues or other ways to convey emotion other than pure gameplay.

The time limit I feel was pretty well balanced for what the game wanted to do, as I felt just pressured enough to be quick about it but not to the point where I felt like having to rush everything. Once I got a hang of my surroundings I started beelining for stuff and in one cycle I was just barely able to get back home with a sliver of time left, which felt pretty good - a sign that the gameplay loop was well designed.

Art was its strongest point I think, the character was endearing and well animated (even if it was just idle+walk cycle, which I will *not* take for granted in a jam game).

I got a real "Death Road to Canada" meets "12 Monkeys" vibe from this. I can really see some potential in the idea!

I really like the idea. Scavenging games like these are annoying a lot of times and a spin like this (and it's on point with the theme too) is very refreshing. Hope to see more from you!

I love the mechanics, simple and fun. Graphic are pretty cute too. Good job.

I saved the city! 50k joules.

I was confused on my first try because I didn't realize that I had to hold E to get energy and that I also have to hold E on purple to spend that energy. But I just ran as fast as I could through the first few houses and picked up all of the misc electronic devices and that was good enough. I also thought at first that I had to run back to the hideout before time ran out but when I ran out of time and the game continued I realized that I should just keep looting.

As you suggested, drone sentries would be great to add a lot of tension while out looting instead of it just being about how fast you can walk.

By the way you should be able to opt out of the audio rating category if it didn't make it into the game.
