Finally I have appeased the Ophanim!

Smart use of sound effects to help guide the player.

I love the tense atmosphere you provided by making me choose between knowing what I can see in the level and knowing where what I am looking for is. Extra spooky when the belt showed enemy and object near each other, or perhaps spookier, neither because they were behind me!

I think the belt mechanic was really well done.

I am an idiot and thought the teal gradient on the belt was the indicator at first, so it did take me a few trys to fully understand what was going on.

Also, a heads up, I had to download a secondary program (7zip manager) to run your game, which is a barrier to entry that is probably stopping others from being able to play your game as easily.

@wrex Thank you so much for all the feedback! First thing is first, it didn't occur to me about the 7zip thing. On the main page I'll add 2 extra files as just .zips. Thank you so much for pointing it out! I will try to find a way to clarify off the bat that the arrows will move, perhaps have the player start looking down and seeing the two arrows then seeing them snap into place as the toll is heard. Thank you so much for giving it a shot, and many thanks for the feedback as well!

This is a super neat game! The sound design is suitably terrifying, and the premise is clear right away. I really like dispensing information every 10 seconds, rather than affecting some other change- it means there is not that much waiting and quite a bit of tension.

As much as I love the belt conceptually, I do wonder if it would have been better off as a HUD element somehow. Looking down does add tension, since you're not looking at the level while you do it, but this information is all the player has, and broadcasting it a bit more clearly might engender more responsive and thoughtful play. Not sure.

Either way the current state is really cool, well done!

Hey, I played your game on the stream - twitch GGame86.

Guiding Arrows did not work

Please give my game a try if you have some time!

genericparadox 2022-10-06 13:41

Hey @gordienkogames! Thank you for trying it out! The arrows should only work every 10 seconds (when you hear the bell toll, is when they update, and then stick that way until the next toll). I'll be sure to check your game out as well very soon!

I really like the tense atmosphere you created in your game, especially the sound effects! But I'm sorry I didn't clear the game, because this game made me experience 3D motion sickness for the first time, and I guess it's probably because the camera is following the mouse too slowly.

genericparadox 2022-10-06 15:58

Hey @nosloofan! Thank you for trying it out and many thanks for the feedback. I am a bit new to the First-Person genre so it's good to know what I should look into to make it a better experience. Will definitely be making some changes to the game to reduce the likelihood of motionsickness.

Nice) but if don`t read description, can`t see a theme work, hope u will finish your variant with maze generation

dummy432 2022-10-07 11:51

it was a good game... it was fun trying to find all the eyes... it would have been nice to add a minimap.... how ever good game !!

Cool game! The concept was solid, and it was fun getting away from the evil golden thingy! The belt would point to where you needed to go, but when you rotate, the belt also rotates, making the whole thing pointless lol. I found relying on sounds made the game a lot better, so next time put audio as a rating catergory and I would have given that a high score! Other then that, cool game!

genericparadox 2022-10-09 02:08

Hey @taximan981! Thank you for trying it out! I am working on a version that would highlight the concept a lot quicker. Which is to have the belt be visible for a few seconds after the gong then vanish. As it was more intended to be sort of a radar ping, taking place every 10 seconds, rather than being a continuous pointer. And I am so glad you enjoyed the sound, but sadly the sound clips where not made by me, I just selected ones that would fit with the atmosphere I was going for, and tweaked them a bit to match. Hopefully on my next one I will be able to make my own sound clips.

erukolindo 2022-10-09 08:01

I do like the concept, and the fact that differently colored lights can be used as hints is pretty cool, but the hint system needs a rework. Even if it's meant to be just a radar ping, it shouldn't rotate with the player. As it is now, it's absolutely useless something like 2 out of 3 times, because the arrow is outside of the field of vision.

genericparadox 2022-10-09 14:26

Hey @erukolindo! Thank you for trying it out! I have updated the game with some changes to the system based on collective feedback, as I do agree, that unless going by sound, it's hard to tell when the arrows are relevant.

volkolak 2022-10-20 09:57

The sounds are very juicy, the clock is great! I would like more graphic details on the level. Overall, it's fun to play.

genericparadox 2022-10-21 06:17

Thank you for trying it out @volkolak. Thank you for the feedback as well, will definitely be something that will be improved upon, adding more graphic detail.
