Played it twice and quite enjoyed it. First dungeon I got an ace on the first draw so it was quite small. The second dungeon took up most of my desktop.
Going through the rules there are a few things that confused me at first. I didn't catch on that for the drawing you draw a single card, follow any of the rules based on what is drawn, then repeat until you've drawn as many as you're supposed to then you can move your token. The wording of drawing and playing one at time, but also discovering multiple rooms at a time is what confused me.
For switching phases it says under the first paragraph in the exploration section that you leave the exploration phase when you draw and place an ace, but under the escape section it says you enter the escape phase when you move into the treasure room. I played using the rule under the escape phase and ignored the one under the exploration phase, but either one could work. They're also worded so that there could be another phase between them where you're just moving.
Does the ruin time do anything than mark where the entrance is? It mentions that you should decrease it during the escape phase but found nothing else in the rules that references it.
This is a solid entry, and I liked it.
Yes, a solo board game!! I really want to like this game, but I am unsure if I am playing it correctly. It has such potential to be an engaging and easy solo experience, but I think it needs some photos, flowcharts or reworded sections in the doc to enjoy fully.
* Is an explore turn only: 1. Look at occupied room 2. Draw & place 1-3 cards 3. Move ? * Can I place cards 'overhanging', as in, does the entire card edge have to touch the occupied room? * Is there any 'table limit' to how far the dungeon can grow to? * The wording 'next to the dungeon' is used for ruin dice - does that just mean the dice is active? Does it matter where it is placed? * It says 'if no more dice can be placed, roll all active die' - does that just mean if 6 ruin dice are in play, roll 6 ruin dice to close rooms? When else would no more ruin dice be able to be placed?
The idea of closing rooms where dice lands was a super fun idea, but again, had some questions. * What happens if it lands off the table? * What happens if several dice land on the same card? * Are those ruin dice 'used' or are they still active? * Same as @unpronounceable, the ruin timer was confusing and seems to have no impact?
Overall I enjoyed my time trying to figure it out, but never quite fully understood. I played a game where no ruin dice were ever active it seems. I played a few times and never had my stamina decrease, nor used a leap-of-faith - though I imagine I am missing something? I would happily try to play again if the rules are clarified a bit.
Here is my second game, which seemed silly, just walking in and walking out without any ruin dice PXL_20211004_164403404.jpg
Hey! Very interesting, and looks fun. You should create a short game play video on vimeo/ or youtube. There are many "how to play-" video examples on You Tube you can transfer some elements into your description video.
Game is fun, though rules are pretty complicated at first. I hope I followed the rules, but, as some other testers said, there are some confusion.
I would love to see this game as "standalone" board game, maybe with some more players involved.
For inspiration on multiplayer and several-phased-gameplay I can recommend "Betrayal at house on the hill".
Great example of creative approach from old-timer in LD :)
Good luck!
Hello. I really appreciate card games during a GameJam. It is always creative and fun - far from computers. However, respectfully I would like to see some tutorial or a full game on video, sharing gameplay and smiles with friends. Maybe next time. Solid rules book. Thank you for your entry ++
