Very impressive work. Fx are very nice, main menu and camera cinematic is cool. The combat system is fun, but sometimes a little bit repetitive. Sometimes, I feel like the character slide on the ground more than walk, maybe it's an issue between speed movement and animation. The jump action is not usefull, and the jump is not enough high and not controlable. I would like a jump action usefull to dodge.

The audio fit well, fx make the game very enjoyable !

I enjoyed the game, welldone !

Holy shit, how you managed to do that? Its incredible. Supeeerb game.

aquasheep3000 2021-05-07 23:53

Good job, fun game, swazzy graphics, and nice soundtrack.

Really an incredible job, I love hack and slash games and it's a cool project to continue  . Sad that you need a joystick, maybe some can't play, suggest recording a video of the game. I invite you to play our game too :)

This music was very excellent. Nice tutorial! Very natural. Tough as nails, but I beat it with a sliver of live left. :)

andrewdavidj 2021-05-08 01:29

That's a pretty fun game! Nice work :)

arturgiardi 2021-05-08 02:03

Fantastic work! I'm impressed. but I think the combat is a little too long

celtico 2021-05-08 02:47

Game seemed nice, but I was unable to play due to controller requirement. There *were* keyboard controls, but "G to start" didn't feel right, was it debugged with a non-QWERT-keyboard? I also felt that using a pre-built combat engine was far away from the LD spirit, so I took points off of Innovation. From the trailer, the game looks AMAZING (loving the shaders and lighting) and sounds alright, but I don't see at all how it applies to the theme.

In short, looks like you guys did pretty well, but this feels like a game made for some jam that isn't LD.

Hope to see you in LD49, cheers.

really cool game. I will definitely play it more in my free time

The game is an absolute blast to play, once you managed to get into it. I spend a short 5 minutes having to re-start the game due to it not loading or not being able to pass the start screen; after pressing all the keys on my keyboard until I got to the character select screen. So a tutorial on how to play the game or a simple 'press any button to start' would have been nice.

However; once you start the actual game proper; the mechanics are very well worked out. The combat is truly 'deep' for sure. And the combo arena (?) once you do enough damage is absolutely thrilling to go through. Plus when you get the enemy in a stun lock feels fantastic.

The choice to give the player loads of health to experiment and familiarize yourself with the controls is good; and the UI design in-game is very well done and communicates all the things I want it to communicate. Enemies telegraph their moves well and I didn't feel any of the moves you had were overpowered or useless.

The art is very coherent and the over-use of bloom fits the style. Also, the camera work and transitions to the battle felt very polished (as the rest of the game). The only thing that could use some work is that the enemy tends to favor the edge of the arena. Which makes positioning by the player less interesting. But that is to be expected for 72 hours.

The fact that this game had time to bake enough to have multiplayer and CONTROLLER SUPPORT as an addition to this, is mind boggling. (by the way, advertise this feature more!)

A humongous effort! You people are absolute legends.

PS: The game froze on me when doing the deep hack; so I haven't been able to see it. The game also ran sub-par on my machine. But that is probably since yall didn't spend much time on optimization.

Wow, great work! I love the character design and music, I'm so impressed you all made this in a jam! I was able to get through the fight with just a 3x Light Attack, 2x Heavy Attack combo, would love to see the other combat options made to feel more necessary. Otherwise, really impressive!

@duck-reaction Thanks! I do agree with you on some of the animations. Definitely wish we had more time to really polish those.

@pedro-henrique-cesar We spen the vast majority of our time on art. Luckily the engine we used is very flexible and doesn't require much programming to get off the ground.

@aquasheep3000 I think the soundtrack is our favorite part of the game! Thank you very much!

@francisco-lucas Yes needing a controller is a limitation we didn't really expect to be much of an issue, but it definitely is. We'll make sure to include keyboard support on our next jam.

@mattwoelk Glad you enjoyed it and were able to complete it!

@andrewdavidj Thank you very much!

@arturgiardi I can definitely understand this. The fight can definitely feel a bit long at times. Thanks for letting us know!

@celtico I think this is a fair point. This is our first jam and while we read that using whatever codebase you like is OK, we'll likely start more from scratch next time. Also yes the application of the theme is a bit of a stretch. We tried to push this more than we probably needed to.

@thesyntheticbrain Oh there are so many things we wanted to really polish, but just couldn't This was our first game jam and we probably crammed more features into this than we needed. I am curious about the game's performance. By any chance, could you let us know your system's specs?

@dan-mcalister Thank you very much! It's not as clear as it could be, but the other skills are very good at high damage or helping extend combos longer if that helps at all. Ideally a more detailed tutorial would explain this better.

raphiell 2021-05-09 17:55

Wow! I had a fantastic time playing this, I beat it with the first fighter, but when I tried with the second he got frozen the first time I was hit, and I couldn't do anything except sit there.

Really good though, well done!

hobzone 2021-05-10 16:23

So much work put inside this beautifull game, good job !

deadmanjw 2021-05-11 07:52

This is a really nice game very impressive graphics and sounds. Great work.

ryan-dotsikas 2021-05-12 00:06

Wow, holy this was definitely super impressive! It was very fun, the character handled well and had so many different functions. It was a great boss battle although it felt like I was never at risk because my HP was so high and I could just take hits if I wanted to. The critical hit sections where the screen changes were for sure my favourite part, super fun. It wouldve been interesting to play with a 2nd as well. Overall amazing job!
