really good for a learning project! smooth animations and cool artwork. really well done
Intresting! Sad that it's unfinished, would've been nice if you actualy could do something with the gems. The Caverns were generated pretty good. do you continue to develope it further?
The controls lack something... I'd like to be able to dig while jumping or something. Get a way back up to emeralds I missed - but I get that you're supposed to go deeper and not back up. Fighting the goblins is relatively easy, so you're basically stuck in the game digging and digging and digging without winning anything, really. That makes it grow a bit dull rather fast. But as you said, it's not finished. I still really liked the feel of it and it looks really good! Ran normal and bug-free for me. Nice job, keep it up and good luck with future projects!
Fun to play and the graphics are really cute. I made a little friend along the way, that got stuck on my head.:) Bildschirmfoto 2021-04-27 um 02.56.34.png
I got stuck a few times (couldn't move left or right) after an unfortunate combination of jumping/ hitting/ landing. was fixable by jumping and hitting again.
@lord-blackheart gems were supposed to be spent at shop which unfortunately didn't make it into game. well, whole game was supposed to be a roguelike, but as you can see I had a little to big expectations. tbh I thought about starting new project or remaking this one because my code is a big mess (seriously, it's really bad). also I'm not quite satisfied with map generator and I would like to rewrite it. thanks for your opinion!
@wastedsince99 you can actually dig while jumping (that was actually unintended but I decided to keep it). Anyway I wanted to make player keep going deeper, but at some point I assumed that I won't finish my game so I'll just focus on some parts that I want to practice. that's why goblins are not a big deal, I wrote some really basic AI script for them. as I said earlier there was a plan to make some goal in game but at some point I thought that I'll leave it as it is. thanks for your opinion!
@sabomball there's a bug where you are unable to move when half of your character stand on block and the other doesn't and then you try to mine down. to fix it you have to attack left or right. thanks for your opinion!
and if I'm not mistaken all of you made same game which I quite enjoyed, so keep it up and see you guys at next LD!
I really enjoyed mining process and graphics!
looks like a solid setup for a more fleshed out game, I like what's there. maybe the mining animation could be faster. also it's kind of sad that this guy just digs forever with no chance of getting out of the hole he's dug himself.
pickaxe animation is slick
Nice animation. It would be nice to be able to dig up. Adding audio would definitely enhance the experience.
good graphics
For me there is potential to be something in the future if you keep developing. I really liked the pixel art and the feeling of isolation. Keep up the good work
Very cute little game! I'm sad you didn't get the chance to finish it up, but every gamejam is indeed a learning experience so I'm glad you've taken that as a positive :) The graphics are very nice and adorable, and the digging itself is quite satisfying. I think one issue with the digging is that you can't dig above you, so if there's a bunch of green gems above you you can just never get them without a way to climb or dig upwards. But I suppose actually that does fit the theme of 'deeper and deeper' better as you can only go down really?
Good job and good luck if you carry it on to completion! :)
Nice graphics! Sounds and music would be a great addition. I'd even say it's necessary for a game like that. But ye the game is indeed unfinished. I hope you will be able to finish a game for your next jam
