@markveligod Thanks for the report. I will have a look at it
Okay first of all what I like about this game: The graphics are nice (I love the character Model) and the mood is just right. Audio also fits very good. The gameplay is not that enjoyable for me. The Attack seems a bit unresponsve and the attack animation of the caracter is not as good as those of the enemies. Since the input seems to be blocked when i got hit by an enemy I was often in situations where I just had some enemies around me and could do not much but be hacked in pieces. In other situations I just stood in front of some enemys spamming attack and hoped to get them down before I die. So how I would improve this? Spice up the attack animation of the caracter and make clearer what was hit and where. Get rid of the input lock or reduce it. Also some more feedback (visual and audo) that you got hit would help a lot to learn the game. Although that was a lot of critique here, there are some really nice aspects of the game and I hope the feedback is helpful.
@hugison thanks for the feedback.
The controls definitely need a complete refactoring beginning with the animations but there was no time left.
This was my first time using unreal for a jam so there were many pitfalls. But I learned a lot in this jam. Unfortunately it was a lot of how not to do stuff ;)
@bender-biber
I know that feeling. But the things you learn is what makes game jams so good. Had the same struggles. Tried something I did not do before, which took longer than I thought so some things juast fall short at the end.
pretty impressive to make a 3d action adventure game during ld! could have certainly used some refining, but overall impressive given the constraints!
could be a little brighter, couldnt really see anything. is there any way to regain health? i seem to just die before i get very far. also a more satisfying feedback when hitting things would've been nice
Collecting health by killing enemies was definitely a great help to making it so you can progress. That said, because you can't move while you attack, and enemies walk just as fast, or faster than you, it means your only option is to stand still and click the left mouse button. So I guess I was missing some variety of the things you could do. Unreal was a pretty bold choice, but I think it paid off because of the neat 3D environment and camera movement. Good stuff!
I like the character model, and good job with the procedural levels. I Eventually got to the second level, but everything is way too dark. It was very hard to see anything at all. You need a torch or something. The camera popping forwards when enemies get too close was disorientating. You did a decent job but it definitely needs more work to be properly playable.
The mood is dark, but voice sfx is quite funny). I really couldn't believe I'd hit anyone with that kind of sword move, but then enemies came lying in piles. Pity, there's no music. And I didn't get the story, also, why the hero has no eyes?
It was quite hard to tell where I was going or where I was, some lights or landmarks in the level would be nice. Well done on completing a game for the jam!
