- I liked the attempt at the GB style, but some things seemed out of place. - It didn't appear much like there was any actual choices being made, just 'press button to continue story', if there was more then that I appeared to miss it.

This can run on an actual gameboy. It's not in the original style of those games though. I do admit it's quite linear though.
Interesting idea doing a sort of semi-interactive story. Would have been nice to have some other endings or something like a CYOAesque "return to page one" point. Your sound effects and art where pretty good (especially the transition from the house back to the dealers table.)

I loved the art style, and the fact that it's made with GB studio. I got worried in the beginning though, because it said my family was just murdered and that I was hungry, and when it cut to the blackjack scene the two characters kind of looked like steaks. I thought I was going to have eat my dead family to survive!
Thanks for sharing!, it's always great to play unique and non-mainstream games during LD! I was really shocked by how dark it got with the murdered family thing right at the start (although I think that's mostly because I associate gameboy-like games with happy games like pokemon). As others have said it would have been great to have some "choices" even if it didn't change the story at all (I went backwards at one point so maybe that was a choice?)

It's hard to feel invested in the game when there's so little agency, especially when the protagonist seems to take actions that don't always make sense, and _especially_ when the ending is unfulfilling.
That being said, congratulations on completing the game!
I love the visuals and sound here. I think the GameBoy aesthetic was perfect for this -- really cool way to set mood and tone!

Visuals were great! Really cool mood and tone, wish it was more interactive though

the in-between visuals and ambience were really good, but the actual game didn't have much substance
The game lagged at the start but it was really a fun experience, love the GameBoy style!

I like the graphics in this game
The parts where you did attempt to draw had a really nice feeling to them. Sometimes the visuals were confusing, especially the part where you are told you are in a loop. Still, I found them all pleasant. I think spending some more time practicing drawing things in this style would serve you well. I hope you continue making games for old consoles.
