It took me some time to figure how to cut things The fact that the game start just before the night discourage me from playing again since it's a long waiting phase That being said, sounds, arts and themes are great! :)

shunaky 2020-04-23 00:28

@dje-ricane Thanks for the feedback, yeah, we chose to start near the night so the player could see the danger right at the start, we placed the player on a spot where there is everytrhing for him to get started, Rocks (To use as a makeshift axe) and even some twigs for moderately feed the fire...

It's kinda sad that this didn't work as we planned hahaha

Thank you a lot for the feedback ^^

pips 2020-04-23 01:08

I really liked the game, loved the graphics and sound and It seems very polished, the only down point is the inovation, it's really similar to don't starve. Thanks for your game! :D

shunaky 2020-04-23 01:15

@pips I really enjoyed seeing you guys playing it, Don't starve was a huge inspiration for this game, so it's expected that hahaha but point taken.

Thank you a lot for the feedback

gamer-fates 2020-04-23 19:42

Love the concept and fact that you put in time with the Gui. The gui is usually ignored in most games but gj!!

ben657 2020-04-23 20:02

Impressive amount of survival crafting game for only 3 days, there's issues but really well done so far!

shunaky 2020-04-23 20:27

@gamer-fates haha Thanks, while we where swirling around trying to get somewhere we did those random stuff, like all the GUI

@ben657 Can you inform us what were trhe issues?

edalbung 2020-04-23 20:34

Really impressive craft system made in 3 days !

However, I think that it is an issue to start almost right on the night, because it is too long to wait daylight. I would have like to start directly at the beginning of the day, so I could explore and try directly the craft features, I think that it will be a better start for your game. Because I didn't want to restart it due to the slow beginning. Moreover, the walk animation felt weird, like he is doing ice-skate.

But apart from these two issues, it is really a good job, you can be proud of you, because the systems work well, and as I said above, it is really impressive what you have accomplished in 3 days !

shunaky 2020-04-23 20:42

@edalbung We wanted to show the player the shadows right at the begining, Too bad it was a bad Idea :(

edalbung 2020-04-23 20:51

@shunaky It was not a bad idea to show the shadows at the beginning, it warns the player from going outside without fire. But, I think that you should do it through an introduction, or put the player toward the end of the night, so it will be warn about the danger and at the same time he doesn't need to wait too long.

Don't take it too bad my feedback on the beginning, I just wanted to point out the main issue of your game in order to help you to improve it. I really think that it could transform as a bigger cool game ! :)

shunaky 2020-04-23 20:57

@edalbung I liked your feedback, it is really good to see which ideas are good or bad and how to improove when doing a real game ^^ Thank you a lot for the feedback :D

jvdwijk 2020-04-23 22:07

This game was pretty fun! I lasted a couple days on my last run ^^ I do have some feedback:

The controls were pretty difficult to figure out, and picking stuff up could be a bit faster. If you had something selected it wouldnt let you pick new stuff up which could be a bit weird.

Well done!

shunaky 2020-04-23 22:34

@jvdwijk Thanks for the feedback, the pickup in the same button as the use button will definely go to the "no no list" hahaha

conroy 2020-04-23 23:34

Hey there! Just played your game, took a few tries to figure out the mechanics of it all, but once I did there was definitely some fun to be had and potential! Love the music and sound, so close on achieving a really nice inventory and crafting system but hey its a game jam and I think what you achieved in the timeframe is really well done!

jake-marks 2020-04-25 00:19

Very challenging. Great aesthetic, clearly Don't Starve and Mincraft influenced, which is a good thing to me! My biggest complaint would be difficulty. By the time you understand what you have to do though your failures have added up to like 30 minutes, so it kind of overstays it's welcome. A few tweaks of timers here and there you would have a really fun and beatable game!

shunaky 2020-04-25 00:41

@jake-marks I loved seeing you livestream the other day!! Yeah, we didn't knew it's difficulty until it was too late :(

epicular 2020-04-25 05:23

Hey there - this seems like a really complete entry which I appreciate. It's rare to see a crafting system that's appropriately and entirely implemented for a jam game.

My biggest complaint here is that the pace of the game is far, far too slow. I don't see the point in having the shadow hover outside the player's fire for any amount of time longer than, say, 15-20 seconds. Any longer and you're just forcing the player to sit there and stare at the screen until they can actually play the game again. On top of that everything just felt too sluggish - from picking stuff up to chopping trees down to moving around the map. I understand why it was slow, and I actually think the slow pace would be a really, really great call... if the game wasn't a jam game. I just didn't have the patience to repeat the same cycle day after day until I made it to... wherever it was I was going.

The game mechanics overall are just well designed and complement each other well. I didn't finish the game because I didn't really know how to - pressing tab didn't do anything so I wonder if the compass was broken/incomplete or something, or maybe I simply didn't know how to use it properly.

The game successfully sets a really dark/tense mood when nighttime swings around. The music is pretty much perfect, and whatever shaders/effects you used to create the shadow were *awesome*. Controls were responsive and did what I expected them to, and the sound effects were appropriate and balanced. There were some clashing styles in the graphics - while the trees and the player had fantastic, smooth animations (minus the strange player south-walk animation), stuff like the fire's choppy animation stuck out of place, along with the land/water borders.

amazura 2020-04-25 08:22

nice game! lovely graphic and strong atmosphere on the game, crafting system works really well. don't know what to do on first play and suddenly screen goes black and it's game over. i think adding short tutorial is good and could you give player more time for player to do something before the game over pop up

shunaky 2020-04-25 20:58

@epicular You should hold tab, an arrow shows up pointing to where you need to move the fire to... The fire and water we couldn't do the art in time, so I just made a really fast shader just for that, I just hoped no one would see that hahahahaha

But heey, that was actually a AWESOME feedback, I love to get all those tips!!

@amazura Yeah, we should definely have added a tutorial, we put all the information needed on the jam page but not in the game :I

bubbadubc 2020-04-26 23:42

Just not very intuitive to play, otherwise, atmosphere, graphics, and audio are on point.

noamraz 2020-04-27 21:27

WOW! That's a really cool game!Love the graphics, the lights in the dark, The monster, clock. it's really cool. i just think the walking need to be faster. except it, Really Really Cool.

shunaky 2020-04-27 22:49

@noamraz That's really cool to read!! Thank you a lot for the feedback

saulo-rosart 2020-05-01 05:00

Nice atmosphere! The walk cycle it's preatty off, but the rest of the game was nice!

fables 2020-05-01 10:59

Incredibly well done, to the point of I don't have a clue how you got so much done in a jam haha. Great work, great game. Had fun playing it and figuring it out. Nice one!

aryanjumani 2020-05-02 19:50

@shunaky, @felipegiovani and @tiotixa really nice game. Loved the graphics. It took me a while to understand the craft system, first game that I have seen that really does this! Audio, gameplay, everything was top notch. Amazing game!

shunaky 2020-05-04 01:38

@fables @aryanjumani I'm really surprised to read these kind of feedbacks, we definely ddidn't expect that... Thank you ^^
