All in all a great job, but I didnt understand, what I had to do. I dont think I missed a tutorial or something but I just couldnt enjoy the game since I was basiaclly thrown in naked with no direction what so ever.

@theitcrow thanks for feedback! To interact with the game you need to click on regions/temples, there are 6 of them in the game. Popup will appear and you can either bless it, or curse it, depending on whether you have enough mana points or status of this region. And your goal is to capture all 6 of regions. Hope this helps :)

Ok. Game background looks great!

But game is so confusing. Tample bars are in wrong place and I don't really know which one belongs where. Also It's hard to get how capturing tamples mechanics works.

You should playtest your game and get more feedback!

First I was lost in the game too. Then I have read your tutorial and everything became clear. I really like the graphics!

This game really needs a tutorial. It is quite complicated and I still don't really know what I'm doing. like the graphics, but would've liked some audio as well. please vote my game too: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/44/soul-checkout

Lovely artstyle and music! The gameplay is not that intuitive, so some sort of tutorial would help a lot :D

starlet 2019-04-30 12:58

The music is great!! The artsyle is AMAZING, oh god the background intro is stunning! But I got a bit confused with the game, not sure what I was supposed to do? After I read the tutorial it became a bit clear, but still was unsure about what to do.

Great art and great music help create the right mood, but as others have said it's not very clear what I had to do. Even after reading the description on the game's page I had troubles understanding what I was supposed to do. Still nice idea, would love to try it again with a tutorial or some QoL improvements.

@jestemstefan @elsper @pepijn @akros @starlet @squaredev thanks for your reviews! You are totally right, there is a problem with conveying information more clearly, especially with movements, we just lacked experience/time to get right. We will do better next time, I hope :) And yeah, best we had time for is tutorial here, and we were exhausted when writing it. We did just as everyone else - left it to be last thing we work on :)

Mood was great, took me a min to figure out how to play but I got there eventualy. good amount of difficulty and very playable. Nice game :)

I'm very impressed that you pulled this off with DOTS over a weekend! I'm personally learning Svelto.ECS at the moment, with the intention of hooking it up to Unity ECS for rendering and physics once that is more stable. The game itself felt sort of like a tech demo to me more than a game experience, possibly because I wasn't fully clear on what things I could do.

Took me quite awhile to grasp what was going on, and how to influence it. Really neat idea, though sometimes I felt like the AI was trying their damndest not to win, as despite a huge leg up over the last temple, it took FOREVER for them to launch enough attacks to win.

Overall, really cool idea and something that could be great if fleshed out more!

joshanthony1990 2019-05-06 23:48

I think this was a good attempt. The game mechanics were interesting, and once I figured out how to make it work I enjoyed playing it.

I did wind up getting stuck at a point where I had three captured points, but couldn't make enough headway to capture the remaining three points. They kept getting reinforcements faster than I could curse them out, and I couldn't really tell where those reinforcements were coming from.

Good effort, overall!

someanotherguy 2019-05-07 20:48

@zesix it is stable, lacking some features (a lot of Unity systems still lack DOTS implementation), but certainly in workable state. If you plan on releasing game this year - you should probably still use Svetlo or Entitas, but if you plan on releasing later - definitely go for DOTS :)
