Nice entry, harder than it seem on the screenshots. Moreover these aliens are my favorite characters in Toy Story :) Congrats !
First I just wanted to point out that with the pre-made music and the scanned background, you technically should have opted out of both the "Graphics" and "Audio" voting. Game controls were intuitive. WIth this jam I failed to make a game that someone can play with little to no instruction, but you definitely did that well. For an embedded game, you really should have made the portal smaller. I happen to be playing on a 13" laptop now and it won't fit on my screen, and it's not really resizable.
The game is fun and the life/bullet mechanic is easy to understand. Good job. Its difficult to se the characters in the background. I would reduce its contrast. Also the invisible collision walls maybe shoud be placed ad the edge of the screen.
The art is very similar to pixar :s
Cute game. As others have said, you should opt out of the graphics and Audio categories given that the music and background art isn't stuff you made during the jam. I don't know if just compositing a bunch of images like that really counts as transformative enough to call that new graphics made for the jam. That said, the game was cool and fits the theme well. Nice job.
Why do the enemies give you less coins than they take to kill
The experience is richer, and the combination of action and strategy is achieved
The numerical relationship between the monster's health, ammo cost, and level is reasonable
The story is good, the mechanics are rationalized with a piggy bank and a toy store, and the whole background map is lovely;
If I had to say one thing, because the core gameplay is so common, , I might not be able to extend this amazing game;
