I like your game! Do you think you try out mine?

drums 2018-08-14 04:22

I ended up playing your game for a while! It was unique and quick and easy to move around. The content/graphics were simple but you nailed the coding. Must have took work! I wasn't sure if there was an end goal or "win" state, or just a high score thing. It was a nice game though. Good job.

azstrocyte 2018-08-14 16:28

Hey thanks ! @drums i didn't have time to do end game stuff so it is a high score thing. I'm glad you liked it nonetheless and spend some time with it !

frostbyte4k 2018-08-14 18:24

This game is just like mine. and the game was a lot more fun then I was expecting. I do wish I could use wasd to move around though. Great job.

First of all i'm gonna give it to you that the game is sooo small which is a great thing for me as i'm trying to rate as many games as i can, i don't want to download huge game so thanks for that! But you need to work on some graphics elements like some animations for the player movements and player movements could've been better in so many ways any way that was a fun game! Don't hesitate to give mine a look!

Pretty cool idea, but I'm really missing smoother movement here. Another tip is that the walls push you, not crush you when they spawn so that you don't randomly die when walking next to a wall. You could make so they only crush you if there's no where to push you.

It took me for a while to understand how the game works (I think I need some rest :)) but the game is great! I think it would have been better if it was real-time instead of turn-based. Running away from water and walls would be more fun. But cool game anyways :)

I like this classic roguelike-style and easy handling, the idea is also very good.

paulo-augusto 2018-08-14 22:20

it's very funny, the game was awesome

windfury 2018-08-15 00:52

Such a fun game!! try mine if you can too. Thanks for the experience!!

A good game idea, the music should be improved. The graphics are good. Try our game too, maybe you'll like it)

Thanks for your comments and feedbacks !

@djibess I spend most of the time working on programming, getting the dungeon generation on point mostly. After that i only had like 1h left to do sound and graphics, so that's why there's no animation and only one frame for player movement.

@max6333 For the walls i really like the fact that they just crush the player but in the current state of the game it's unfair to the players you're right.

I think the solution i like the most is that i'll make it clear one turn in advance where the wall will move. That way the player can plan where he'll go.

I'm gonna keep working on this game to at least get it where i originally planned to get it. I had time only to make one item (the bomb) but there was suppose to be more, giving more ways to deal with the water. Also it's not clear when the water kill you (and why but that's because there's no graphics for it yet).

Nice idea, the growing of the walls looks pretty awesome! Difficulty is quite high but it is fun to play!

officialcodenmore 2018-08-16 14:47

I enjoy the game concept, it's a fun frustrating feel! The movement controls, unfortunately, is quite inconsistent but aside from that, it was fun to play.

azstrocyte 2018-08-16 16:35

@officialcodenmore what do you mean exactly by "the movement controls is quite inconsistent" ?

riptidestudio 2018-08-20 15:01

Interesting idea, but controls is really uncomfortable because player sprite moves tile by tile, if it would be smoother it would be better.

Neat game! I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum Dare 42 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/RlwE2-mxmJw
