It's pretty nice,
I had a bit of a trouble to understand that the body was the player's life, at first. The gameplay is simple but effective.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD41 → Night of the Overdue Assignments

Die evil papers! Nice fun game :).
I played through to the third set of stages, had fun. I kept thinking the money was enemies as they are drawn on a layer above and would fly straight at me, freaked me out a couple times. Thanks for the game!
If you want to load your game, change the "DotOA" file name to "NotOA" Also, yeah I should've put in more indicators for health, and transparency to the money.
The fourth enemy on the fourth set of stages is glitched, they stop moving when shot. I never playtested them enough lol
I'm not really seeing what the second genre is. This is a shooter with RPG elements, which isn't exactly incompatible. The money was actively confusing at first; it looked like an attack as opposed to something you were picking up. The UI had bad contrast; yellow text for the money amount? Hard to see. The shop wasn't immediately obvious that it *was* a shop, and if the items I accidentally purchased were any indication, I'm not sure why ammo is a thing in a game like this.
A passable shooter, but not much else going for it.
I really found this fun! I died a lot to the 5th wave :C but I really like the game-play! It is interesting and I love the art style I just wish you followed the theme better. You didn't combine two genres, you just put a shoot-em-up game in a school environment. I really wish you could've done more in the academics department like making you work on math problems while fighting the boss to manage your time spent dealing damage and finishing your papers.
@GroverTheGrovekeeper @ketura that is definitely a weak point, I could not think of a combo for the life of me! working on problems or something would've been a great idea!
Simple, straightforward, and fun. Well done.
Really fun game. I think the money was fine, but text was hard to read. At first I was firing willy nilly, but then i realized you had limited ammo so I had think a little more strategically. Had a fun time with the boss. Also the theme is a stretch.
"Take that, homework!" I sure killed a lot of assignments. I was mopping the place up, but then I started experimenting with the pencil and it went downhill from there.
I liked the angry expressions on the assignments, how they came in various sizes, and the nice crunchy feel to shooting them. Well done!
@pkenney yeah the pencil is there if you have low ammo (although the blue ammo regenerates pretty well up to 10) and it gets you extra money, but the range and attack rate is pretty low. I think I would want to buff the range if anything
I mean, I already *knew* I hated assignments, but I never knew I hated assignments __*this much*__ until now. Thanks for opening my eyes!
Not too bad at all, I made it to the 4th wave! Love the concept, the sound was very Atari, especially with not having music. If the color palette would have been a bit lower, I would have thought I was playing an actual Atari 2600 game. :)
