There weer some ledges next to the water I couldn't jump over, and it was a bit tricky seeing where the water started/stopped.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD22 → I Was Here

Cool little game :) I player it in firefox and there was some text that extended beyond the screen, but other than that it worked great!
Cool little game.
On my Firefox the text was rendered way too big, it turns out this is because I have it configured to prevent websites from using their own font. Not that your game is to blame for that.
OH MAN IT'S SCARY WHEN YOU DROWN. Bonus MOOD score for that...
It feels really eerie the second time you see the I was here sign. The books were off grammatically and I couldn't even manage to get to one (in the far lower right of the map I believe). I don't think I missed any powerups.
good overall ! Minimalism gfx work well, but a swimming and walking animation ( 2 frames is enough ) would have been great. I guess you have the skills for that coz your information panel and powerups graphics are gorgeous
I too found the fonts too large on Firefox, but font-face loading is enabled.
Enjoyable adventure, I got to the credits screen. It would somehow have been nice to get a ‘you’ll learn to do things’ message near the start, as I was convinced I had missed an instruction and went through most keys to find jump ;)
Liked it, found it amusing for a simple platform game with a few interesting twists.
Oh and I found the kitty :)
you use your own javascript library for this?
Thanks for the feedback :)
The game is mostly missing some sounds, a music and animation for the main character... for sure. I also think that an improved game-design would have avoided the ambiguous "water jump".
Concerning the programming, I made this engine "from scratch" based on previous little game projects of my own. (you can check this one for instance: http://www.kongregate.com/games/yoshh/samsara ).
Finally, I'm quite bad in pure story telling games... especially because I put the writing part at the extreme end of the compo (combined with a non-native tongue awful style).
It's really cool for you to include snapshots of the paper designs. I would never have the time to do those, did they help?
Cute game
This is a great job for a first release.
Liked it, but couldn't beat it.
Water was a bit too close in colour to the background. You also had to squint a bit too hard to see some of the secret passages, though making them lighter might make them too obvious.
Nice game. I think your scope was just right for Ludum Dare, it plays really well and you were able to get a few game design ideas in there.
