Maybe I' missing something, but it looks like you're supposed to try again and again until you figure it out. But even the very first plant is troubling, and if you guess wrong you have no information to go on in the future.

On the other hand it adds a layer of difficulty, and when I've gotten used to it didn't felt as punishing. The art is gorgeous and funny, and sound design is amazing! I love how the game feels.
