| Dec 8 14:44:08 | The Corridor of Locked Doors | ♥ 0 | There should be a way to use [Vassal Engine](http://vassalengine.org/) to play the game online! I found [this simple playing cards module](http://www.vassalengine.org/wiki/Module:Playing_Cards) for instance, with some effort it should be possible to extend it to fit your rules better. | |
| Dec 8 15:01:45 | 17m 37s | Nihilistic Nurture Navigation | ♥ 2 | This puzzle-platformer idea with multiple characters is good, now I find that the current controls are a bit frustrating, especially the fact that the kids cannot change direction until they touch a trampoline or hit a wall. With more work on the visual feedback, and maybe by adjusting the walking speeds I reckon it could become more comfortable. But I think the game would work better with a more classic scheme of walking with the arrows and switching characters with special keys. The art is quite intriguing, to me it looks like it mixes... [Commander Keen 1](https://www.google.com/search?q=commander+keen+1&client=firefox-b-ab&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjNrZ2jwJDfAhUO6RoKHQ8JDacQ_AUIDigB&biw=1104&bih=860) with... maybe Tim Burton? ^^ Anyway the current version lacks consistency a bit but the choices are interesting. Great music btw! |
| Dec 8 20:19:14 | 5h 17m | DBK - A Band Story | ♥ 1 | A nice little puzzle game with an excellent presentation! The work on the UI, animations and overall atmosphere are really the strong point of the game (my only suggestion being to replace the solid blue background with something different, maybe a plain white or a light gradient). The premise of telling the story of a band is a pretty cool choice with good potential! In the end I did feel the story lacked a little bit of character, but I've been guilty of the same thing under the pressure of jams. The level count however turned out pretty decent: the game takes 5-10mn to beat which is good for a jam, and enough to let us discover the gameplay possibilities. Gameplay-wise the puzzles were not too hard but still enjoyable, and the couple issues I had seem easy enough to iron out. For instance I've been in a situation where Yellow was alone without enough money, waiting patiently for a dollar to spawn on his side. Just before it was too late, money finally popped, but as soon as I walked on it the tile dropped without warning 😭 Anyway nice job, this is a top tier entry for me! EDIT: Almost forgot to give some love to the dynamic tune ❤️ |
| Dec 8 21:55:31 | 1h 36m | Merciless gods | ♥ 1 | Very original little game! I did manage to figure most of the rules after a few playthroughs. It takes some trial and error to really understand them, but I think if you're in the right mindset it does achieve what you intended in terms of "play it to learn it". I love how the theme, presentation and controls all work together to tell slightly unsettling things. My only issue was that character icons could use more differentiation. My best score was 39 days but I'm sure I can do better! |
| Dec 8 22:22:14 | 26m 43s | Gatopia | ♥ 1 | The idea is super funny, nice find! The voxel graphics are good as well, with a nice variety of little gatos to save :D The gameplay itself is where things are less exciting! The retro keyboard-only controls were frustrating and a bit heavy, added to the fact that the player sticks to walls (should be fixed by tweaking the physic materials I think). I also wish the game wasn't infinite and maybe balanced differently, as in its current form things get repetitive quickly. Or at least the game should let us hear cries of despair when cats are getting burned to death two stairs below ;) This was an interesting concept to explore anyway, I'm glad I saw this if only for the hilarious game cover x) |
| Dec 8 22:31:59 | 9m 45s | Mr.Geek | ♥ 2 | Oooh a quizz game, that's a nice change! The way sacrifices where inserted in the game was on point and pretty funny. It felt like a lottery of sorts but it suited the Mr Geek concept and the theme so I didn't mind. Too bad the post mortems passed by so fast though, I could not read them all. Great work on the graphics, and in particular the character art! |
| Dec 9 13:13:38 | 14h 41m | Sky Fortress | ♥ 2 | Quite an ambitious game, and while it has its flaws the result is quite an achievement! I was impressed in particular by the weapon diversity and the reasonably balanced/believable AI, which I've only seen behave weirdly when there are facing another AI in a duel. Oh, and, yeah they've been falling a lot too ^^ But as a developer it's still impressive work to see an Unreal Tournament clone, in Unity, made in 3 days. The main feedback I have is: * The lack of weapon cursor makes the game way too hard * The lack of shadows and textures make it hard to gauge distances * Same color code for enemies and weapon spawns make things confusing at first The overall game presentation is good, so fixing these issues would make the game much better. Oh and excellent work on the audio, the music in particular really fits the arena shooter genre! |
| Dec 28 22:27:57 | 465h 14m | Dungeon of Lost Items | ♥ 1 | A super interesting game idea, simple but addictive in a way! I like how it somehow feels like dungeon exploration but also like a minesweeper game. Would definitely fit as a mobile game. Indeed the rules are a bit confusing and overwhelming at first, but we eventually start to figure things out. To make things smoother, an idea would be that when you first try to enter a tile with a monster, the menu on the right could display the outcome before resolving the action, requiring you to press the key a second time to confirm. One thing that is still unclear to me is what ATK vs PWR does. Maybe DEF is disregarded for damage if ATK > PWR? To me it what would have felt good is if we were simply prevented to go to a tile where PWR > ATK (ie. we can't kill the beast). Fog would have been a nice addition as well, like you'd only see the monsters from tiles around you, instead of being incited to plot the whole route in advance. A pretty fun game overall with good replayability. I've managed to win it once :) |
| Dec 28 22:38:41 | 10m 44s | Traffic Jams and Hand Grenades | ♥ 1 | Great take on the theme! I thought this type of game was completely buried in the early days of mobile gaming, but you managed to add an interesting twist to it. The final 2 levels are crazy, I cheated for them. Too bad there is no restart button or level selection menu to give another shot at finishing them "the way it's meant to be played". The pixel art is pretty good, the audio was nice but a bit too lively I feel to work as background music. A pretty nice job overall, great level design in particular! |
