Dec 15 00:49:00 Squishy the Turtle Excellent, I'm impressed you actually managed to create a gameboy game in 48h. Kudos!

Besides the incredible technical achievement, the game is nice to play too. The core idea is simple but fun, and the difficulty ramps up nicely! I will definitively try this game on my GBC using an everdrive cart!

By-the-way, what tool/framework did you use for GameBoy developement? Everything is coded in assembly? Or is it possible to use some C-based framework?

I'd love to see an expanded version of the game, and its post-mortem!

Congratulations!
Dec 15 00:57:00 8m 00s PlantBoy A gameboy game in 48h? in assembly? Impressive! (it's the 2nd GB game I play during this LD, I guess GameBoy is the new cool, beware Unity! ;))

The game is also quite fun to play. Simple idea but effective, and I like the graphics! Well done!
Dec 15 01:06:00 9m 00s Full Metal Democracy Outstanding, as usual. I'm always amazed by your entries, and this one doesn't disappoint! I really love how the (giant) robots feel "alive" in the game!
Dec 15 01:12:00 6m 00s Chaotic Potato Nice idea. The rotating world is nice, and the games is quite challenging too! I like how the first level is a mandatory tutorial - I wouldn't have understood the "shop" mechanic without it!

Congrats!
Dec 15 01:27:00 15m 00s From the Deep Interesting and challenging game! I like how the game is so tiny (didn't zoom in to play) and the whole island rising up effect. The level design is excellent. Although I think the game would be better to play with a separate jump button, I really enjoyed it once I got used up to the control. I couldn't get past the two monsters side-by-side near the end, but I'll try again tomorrow :)
Dec 18 19:19:00 89h 52m Radical Revolver Recoil Rampage Excellent gameplay idea, I love it! It's simple but entertaining, and quite challenging without being frustrating. Very good job, congrats! My best score is 41 seconds :p
Dec 18 21:15:00 1h 56m Ourobos Outstanding! I'm still impressed by how much content you put in this game in so few time. Did you invent a way to slow down time? :)

The game is excellent, a good metroid tribute, great mood, excellent level design, beautiful music and GBC graphics... I still have to complete the game (according to your map, I miss two rooms only, but darn, these "metroids mobs" at the end are though!). I like how the game change from one zone to another, gameplay wise (the first two are platform shooter oriented, while the third one is more puzzle/speed oriented, and the last one seems to be more about avoiding enemies with the shield than killing them).

If this game doesn't end in the Jam podium, then I don't understand LudumDare :).

I'll have a series of minor complaints/remarks if you plan to do a post-compo version of the game (and you should, as it's really awesome!) :

-When entering a new room, would it be possible to make the hero move according to the direction already pressed? I played the browser version, but I have to release/press again an arrow key to keep walking when changing room (it seems nothing, but it's kinda annoying when you spend about 1 hour exploring the game world)

-When we load a saved game, the current health and ammo isn't fully restored (very annoying at the end game: I save with 999 ammo and 140 health, but I restart with only 250 ammo and 100 health. That's what actually had me quit the game before completing it - I'll need about 999 ammo to finish it, but I don't have the patience to farm it again)

-For those who faced the "first gun no longer shoot bug", just press enter to display the map and press enter again to continue playing: the gun is now firing again, even with 0 ammo (so you can open doors ;))

-The way to reach the missile launcher is a bit unfair: one fall = too many rooms to walk again, IMHO.

-I find the jump movement a bit short when not underwater (underwater it's very smooth) - would it be possible to jump a bit higher? That would make some tricky jump less tricky at some places.

-That being said, again, the game is very excellent. The level design is very interesting and well done, it doesn't feel like a 72h game but rather a month-long level design and development.

Congrats!
Dec 19 01:53:00 4h 38m Go, Go, Radzilla! Very Nice entry! I love the art style, and the stomping action strangely makes me feels very powerful! :)
Good job!

Btw, you to have opted out audio, but the sound work and music you is very good! :)
Dec 19 02:02:00 9m 00s From Sprout to Splendor Great entry, I love it! The graphics are wonderful, the gameplay is simple yet challenging enough to keep me entertained, and this game is so relaxing, I love it. The music is very powerful, great job!
Dec 19 02:13:00 11m 00s Grava-Switch Nice entry, a little game fun to play. The concept is simple, but the pacing is good, and the game rapidly become challenging. Would be a great mobile game with a graphics update :).

Also, as some other people on this people, I was quite disturbed by the flashing colors. I understand they are here to add to the challenge, but to me they are more disturbing than challenging. Maybe you should try by making colors changing less often (maybe every 30 seconds instead of every 5 seconds) so tired eyes can get accustomed to the color before they change? :)
Dec 19 02:18:00 5m 00s Grow A simple yet addicting gameplay idea, good job! The graphics are nice and I love the music too. To polish the game, you should maybe try to reduce the "slippery" of the hero on the floor, and, please add the possibility to restart the game by hitting a key instead of clicking twice: as we get to restart the game pretty quickly, I want to be able to restart it without leaving the keyboard to reach the mouse :)
Dec 19 17:54:00 15h 36m Beardgrow Nice game, I love the graphics, audio, and general idea!

However, I find it very hard and frustrating to play due to its control: you're almost guaranted to hit one or several bullies. They move way too fast on their platform to allow to make some kind of "planning" for the best time to jump, and as you continuesly move, it tends to get annoying to get hit so often. Maybe reducing the walking speed of the bullies would make it easier for newbie players like me :)

Anyway, a good entry overall!
Dec 19 23:37:00 5h 43m Speyer74 I like the sad mood and overall "strange" feeling of this game. Good work, I like when games make us think about life.

However, I'm actually a bit confused about the message itself: is it some kind of battle between fear and love, when our own character is "fear" and must escape love that want to "destroy" it?
And what is the symbol beneath this woman sleeping in the house at the beginning?
Dec 22 20:19:00 68h 42m DESEEDER Very cool entry! I love the graphics style, and the music is very entertaining! The gameplay is simple yet challenging, and most of all, quite fun to play! Congrats for putting this out in 48h hours only, it's very polished fast-paced game :)
Dec 22 20:35:00 16m 00s We used to be Neighbours Very interesting game! I like the concept and "real-world message" behind it. I actually ended up with the better solution on my first run, so It's not that hard to find ;)

I think the game may need some additional balancing for all players to really understand the meaning of the game. In one run, I choose to recruit about 5-6 soldiers and to shoot manually all the red that were going in. The happiness decreased a little, but then got back to 100 quickly as the money rolled in. But after a few minutes, the game over screen appeared telling me I didn't use the best solution, while my current in game score could let me think that this was indeed the *right* choice.

But anyway, congrats on putting a game both fun to play and thought-provoking!
Dec 23 02:40:00 6h 05m No Birds In This Game Nive entry, I love it! The music is just awesome, and totally set the mood! The game itself is quite original. The control system is a bit odd a first, but I quickly get used to it and got hooked up to complete the levels! ANTastic entry :)

My only complaint would be at the tiny size of the ant. I know you'll grow it in later level, but during the first level, I didn't figured out that something moved. You should put a red blinking arrow following the ant during the first level, so everyone can understand that we are controlling a moving ant before reaching level 2 :)
Dec 23 02:48:00 8m 00s GrowBall Simple and fun idea, well done for only 6 hours of work! The game tends to be repetitive and very difficult after 20 though (i managed to reach 30, but i quit when I figured out there was no end in the game). You should maybe make a 2-3 minutes time limit on the game, to motivates player to play again to improve their score, instead of letting the game go on and on forever.
Dec 23 02:55:00 7m 00s The Super Bros (that are not Brothers!) I love the concept, very fun to play, yet simple to understand. You should definitively develop this into a full fledged game with more levels! I love the humor with the secret box and the "bugged door" too! Congrats!
Dec 28 18:59:00 136h 04m Garden Grow Wonderful game! Simple yet very addictive and fun idea, great execution (the jam version is quite nice, even if the post-jam one obviously looks better ;)).
A perfect entry!
Dec 28 19:07:00 8m 00s Hybris Outstanding entry, as usual! I still wonder how you can create such polished, fun, and content-rich in 48h only! :)
The game is very interesting to play, as each level requires a different strategy to be beaten. The difficulty curve is well balanced for me, it's challenging but beatable! :)
Congrats!
Dec 29 18:27:00 23h 20m Novascape Impressive entry! It's the 3rd Gameboy game i'm playing during this LD, and I'm still impressed at the technical achievement to create such a game on GameBoy in 48h only!

The game itself is quite cool and fun to play. Easy to pick up, but very challenging. I like how your shots make you move forward, and this is the only way to move right or left. If you continue developing this game, you should increase the recoil to make it more fun/challenging for the player, because this great idea seems currently a little "less important" compared to the enemies and lava floor to avoid :)
Jan 1 18:26:00 71h 59m Long Long: A snake lies in the Past Nice entry, fun to play and with a lot of humor. The new takes on two old classic game works great, and the graphics are really awesome!

My only complaint would lies in the difficulty of the game: the two buttons controls make it quite hard to play (harder than the traditionnal 4 buttons snake), so it would be nicer for players to restart on the last screen than from a checkpoint, which can sometimes be very frustrating to restart 4 or 5 five screen because you mixed up "left" with "right" button.

Anyway, excellent entry overall, i love it!
Jan 2 18:11:00 23h 45m Button Betting Outstanding entry! Very simple but very entertaining / addictive game, I love it! It just lacks a background music IMHO, but the rest is perfect! The graphics are great, the difficulty is challenging but fair, and the gameplay is very fun! Congrats!
Jan 3 00:07:00 5h 56m Panball Nice game, I love it! The Panda is so cute! :) The graphics are really good, and the gameplay is nice too! Only things that bothered me was that you have to click on the panda to launch it (at first, I thought the game was not working, because I was clicking blindly in the game area), and that the flipper controls also controls the menu. The first time I completed the first level, I accidentally came back to the menu instead on "continue" to the boss level.

Other than that, great take on the flipper genre, and fun to play!
Jan 3 00:31:00 24m 00s Neo Oxygene Woaw, strange but entertaining entry, I love it! It took me a while to understand how to play (your description here was useful, thx!), but once you understand it, it's great fun. The music is excellent, and I like how you have to "earn" power to play the action game on the right. Eventually, I ran out of brown and my container got destroyed by the tree that I could no longer "cut", but I used my stock to the bone on the mini action game. My High score was 3287 :)

Great entry, congrats!
